Would plastic plates be off putting to you as a guest? Real silverware and cups. Just plastic plates

I think a lot of people would be put off by plastic plates as p-they would seem cheap. On the other hand they would be very easy to use and to clean up at the end of the night. Where are you having your reception? Did they recommend plastic plates? Smiley smile

I think it depends on the formality/vibe of the event. It would throw me a bit if I was given a plastic plate at a black tie event in a grand ballroom, but we used the free plastic plates from our caterer (with rented real flatware and glasses) at our more relaxed, slightly rustic venue and we got nothing but compliments from guests on our day

Honestly, i dont think guests really pick up a plate and say omg how cheap, they couldnt get real plates. Unless they are there to judge, which case dont come lol and even if they do, they arent paying for it, you are so who cares. All my dinnerware will be plastic, but im having a backyard wedding and i want easy clean up.

Personally, I wouldn't care, but there's always judgey people out there. If you're having a more relaxed and/ or outdoor reception then I think they'd be fine.

I think they're fine based on your formality. One thing to plan is disposal. At the garbage stations (if any), will there be a bin for your guests to sort out the silverware, and throw out the plate? Do you think your guests may throw out the rented silverware? Or will you have hired servers to clean the tables?

Hmmm I guess it would depend on how casual the wedding is. As a guest, I would probably notice it during dinner and think it kind of odd/out of place, but I probably wouldn't be thinking about it again the rest of the evening haha. But I could definitely see a lot of people making note of it in a weird way...

We are using plastic everything! We bought them from our event coordinator, and they are a type used in many weddings (at least in our area). As long as they’re heavy duty plastic I don’t see a problem. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Real plates are expensive and can easily be broken.

These are the plastic plates my caterer offers and to be honest I don’t mind them.. Plus they are much cheaper then renting real China. I think you are overthinking it ! The disposable plastic plates will be just fine with the silverware and cups.. But seriously I overthink everything when it comes to this wedding planning too 🙄😂

We are using plastic, and ya know I dont care what people think. We are there to celebrate the marriage and have fun with family and friends. If someone is gonna judge on plates then they shouldnt come.

Using plastic and I don't care what anyone else thinks. If their biggest worry for the entire day is about the plates and silverware I use, they have bigger issues in their life. It's your day.

Decide what you want to do and go with it. When I asked my caterer about using different plates, he flat out told me, I've never been to a wedding where I remembered what plates they were using, but I do remember what food they served. I've never heard something so blunt and so true. I can't remember any wedding I've been to where I remember what they used to serve their food. But I do remember the food they had and whether it was good or not.

I've never paid attention to the plates at weddings tbh! Your guests are there to celebrate your love & marriage. If plates bother guests, I personally wouldn't invite them

I think a lot of plastic plates look more expensive than they are and the cleanup would be easy. I am getting chargers from dollar tree to place my centerpieces on I say do what's economically fitting for your budget.

For me, it definitely depends on the formality of the wedding. If you're doing an outdoor our more casual wedding, I don't think most people would care, but if you're having a more formal wedding I think it may stand out more. I think the plates that you picked look nice and don't feel super cheap.

It depends on how formal your wedding is. It might seem off-putting for some guests to see plastic-ware but it sounds like the lowest effort way to serve food on and I don't think guests would make a big deal out of it.

These are the ones we are using. Saving about $900 off catering bill by using our own.
