Plates for cupcakes?!

Mrs. Del Grosso, on August 21, 2012 at 7:42 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9

So FI and I are having a cupcake cake since the bakery we are going with has a $500 difference between a wedding cake and a cupcake cake.

We have around 200 guests we are inviting and yes I know not everyone will show up. I'm trying to figure out if we should buy little dessert plates for the cupcakes? There won't be any kids at the wedding except for who is in the wedding party so i'm not worried about messiness. Me, personally I wouldn't use a plate, we will have plenty of napkins. So should I order the plates? Would you use one?

I was just at a wedding this past weekend, and I didn't grab a plate, I just took a napkin.

edit - I ate it with a fork, holding the wrapper and had the napkin to wipe up afterwards.

Absolutely. I would need a place to put the cupcake liner.

I wouldn't use the plates either, but if you are going with that idea, I would say get the little plastic disposables. They are inexpensive and can be found at Sams.

I would use a plate & a fork. Frosting face is so not chic ;-)

We are having cupcakes as well. We will be having the small disposable dessert plates, forks and napkins handy in case someone wants to use them.

See I was thinking just invade too, my mom said I should get them as well! So plates & forks it is! I ordered napkins but they are mostly for beverages. Guess I'll be making a trip to party city!

    Thanks ladies!! Smiley smile

I know that you already decided on it, but I agree...buy little plates. Even if everyone does not use one, it is better to offer a plate.

As far as dessert napkins, this could be a fun time for some personalized napkins. I bought some, on eBay, for my daughters Shower (although, dummy me, I was off by 1 day on the date on them. LOL!) It was a fun touch and inexpensive. I still have some left, so I use them at home.

I was also gonna suggest having them available for those who wish to use them. Any unused items can always be but to use later at home.

No, don't get the plates. half of your guest will not even use them anyway. It's just a waste of money that could be used on something else.
