Platform for outdoor wedding

harley, on August 4, 2015 at 10:12 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

We are having an outdoor country themed wedding on my fiances parents farm... the reception will be in a building on the property.... I considered building a wooden platform for the dance floor for the sound effects with boots and esthetics.... is this a good idea or not? what size of a floor would you say is a good size... our wedding will be kind of smaller.

We're doing that for our ceremony except in a local park. Unfortunately, I suck at measuring and building in general so, I'll my fiance and her brothers would better understand a that stuff lol. I just know it's possible and I'll be there to hand them the nails xD although, I can tell you we're only making it wide enough for us and the officiant to stand on and tall enough for me to step up without tripping or anything.

I want to build a smaller platform for the ceremony and then two for the reception (head table - one smaller, one bigger) that will be pushed together for the dance floor.... I just don't want people that have been drinking to trip over it or fall off.

It might be less expensive to rent a portable dance floor than to build one.

While I cannot help with the building portion of your post, your answer to the size question is probably going to depend on A) the size of the reception space, and B) the size of your guest list. The estimates I have seen vary, but it seems like for a 200 person wedding the "recommended" dance floor size is 18x18 or 20x20. How many guests are you planning to have?
