"Plus ones" on save the date envelopes?

Moose, on December 16, 2016 at 4:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Super quick question: Should I put "and guest" on single people's save the dates? Or should I just put that person and then include a plus one in the real 6invitation. We are sending them seven months in advance.

I've seen some similar questions but no clear answers.

We did it just so it was clear b/c some people like to plan ahead...but probably not necessary

I just sent out my STD's and I only included the single guest's name. I will include a +1 on their invitation though.

We only put the invited person's name on the STD envelope. Most of the people we gave plus ones to we see on a regular basis, so we just made sure to say something along the lines of, "Just wanted to let you know you can bring a date." next time we saw them.

Agree with @the D. The "and guest" is for the invitation. We sent save-the-dates to our single invitees, and households.

I didn't. I will put "and guest" for my truly single people on the actual invitation.

We didn't add plus ones to save the dates. We will on the formal invites.

I am not a big fan of STDs, but am confused by some of the answers here. If the intent of STDs is to encourage guests to attend your wedding, I would think letting them know if they will be allowed a guest is important. Especially for OOT guests.

Of course, if the intend is to have your picture on a magnet on their frig, you dont need a + one.

We did the guests on STDs because we wanted people to know now that they were getting one. Our venue can hold easily 2-3x as many people as we are inviting and want to make sure that we get as close to our full guest list as possible...so gave everyone the notice of a guest.

However the downside to this is if you have to downsize for any reason when its time for invited you're stuck with all those guests.
