Polaroid Guest book.. thoughts?

Sarah, on February 6, 2017 at 6:13 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 21

I'm contemplating doing a Polaroid guest book where they take a picture of themselves/ have someone take it for then and write a note next to their picture in the guest book. Has anyone been to a wedding where they did this? Any thoughts?

My girlfriend did it and it turned out so cute!! She had a book where the photo fit perfectly and everyone signed their name underneath. It was around $300 for cameras and film

@kelsey O .. did she have any issues with guests taking too many pictures/ trying to get the best picture or having trouble changing the film?

Yes, I just went to a wedding a couple months back where they did this and it's a really cute idea. Just be careful with the little ones getting snap happy and using up all the film.

Its a cute idea! We did a set up where the couple had a plain journal and we put together a variety of gold tape with lucite tape dispenser, white polaroid and a gold sharpie. Another couple had a table just for this and included props.

I love love love this idea! I considered doing it myself but I couldn't find an affordable camera and polaroid film in my budget. It sounds like fun for your guests and a great keepsake for you to look back on after the wedding

My sister did this a few years ago. It was a hit, however the polaroid jammed and it was difficult to change the film. She was off in the corner fiddling with it a lot. I don't know where she got it from, or if the film was old or what - I remember she had a hard time finding the film. Maybe designate a couple people to help if there are any issues. It might have been helpful if a couple people knew how to change the film.

Thank you very much! I appreciate all the comments and feedback. I'm going to go for it and ask one or two of my cousin's to help if needed.

I am planning on doing this. I got the camera and a lot of film on cyber monday. But instead of putting the pictures in a book, I have a chickenwire frame that everyone can hang up their pictures and best wishes. I only have 16 guests, so I don't have to worry about people getting too snap happy, I do think if you are having a larger wedding then you may want more than one camera.

I owe one of those cameras. It's a cute idea but film is a little pricey.

My Matron of Honor did this at her wedding and we are thinking about doing it for ours. She had a box of props and it was a lot of fun. Hey @Vandekerklove - do you have a picture of your frame, it sounds adorable.

@FallBrideJen here is the best picture I have up. I was playing around with how to set it up. I am really excited to display it in our house after the wedding.

@vandekerk what do those signs say? Are they instructions? I'm working on my signs soon and we're doing a polaroid guestbook thing. Where they find their seat and replace the place card with a Polaroid. Wondering if we need to give them instructions on how to use the camera. It's a pretty straightforward camera but ya never know.

I really wanted to do this because our theme is a 90s houseparty, but the expense just is not worth it. The cameras alone aren't that bad, but the film is outrageous. Especially for us having a 250 person wedding. ETA: we have thought about doing disposable cameras instead, which may be an option as well. Our photographer also offers a photo booth that prints out on Polaroid type film with our date so that may end up being cheaper than us trying to find and order it all.

One of my BM's is into photography and actually just bought one of the cameras last month and said we could use it for this if we want. We're going to work on pricing out film so we can decide if it's something we want to do. I LOVE the idea though!

I've been to two with these photo books and it was awesome! Just make sure you have lots of extra film. Many guests took one for the book then some to take home

My sister did this and people loved it. No one got many extra copies for themselves, I don't think they knew they could. Maybe having a note or sign next to it encouraging them to keep one for themselves.

@Bee, I made all the signs. One is the seating chart, one explains the guestbook, and the last one is just a hashtag sign. I bought all the frames at various places and then spray painted them all gold to match. If you google, polaroid guest book signs you can find a lot and then I just copied what they said.
