Polish or fake nails?

Rozenbook, on February 21, 2018 at 1:01 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 14
I'm looking into what I should do for my nails in order to make sure I create a nail care routine leading up to the wedding. For the past year I've been getting I to makeup. I never had a full interest until recently. I've started getting into spa like things and nail care leaked my interest mostly to make sure I look good for the wedding day.

Thoughts on wearong polish vs fake nails for the big day?

I am planning on getting a gel manicure. They usually look brand new for weeks.

I did gel because we left for our honeymoon a few days later and I didn't want to worry about my nails chipping for the wedding or honeymoon. I'll be honest tho, gel nails really mess up my nails. I had them done a few weeks ago for some long trips I was on and after removing them, my nails are so thin and brittle.

I'd go with acrylics or gel so the polish does not chip and it could potentially last you throughout the honeymoon as well. Acrylics or gel polish do unfortunately leave your nails fairly brittle like the previous user mentioned, because the nail technician has to file down your natural nail to give the acrylic a more natural appearance. However, they will be back to normal sooner than you realize depending on the rate of your nail growth. Clear polishes help with the aftercare too.

I'm team polish. You have to be careful with gel, but it's great for special events.

Have you thought about doing shellac nails? I find them to be more natural-looking while maintaining durability.

We will not be doing a traditional honeymoon afterward. We might stay at a hotel for a day or two as something small and save up and treat ourselves to a honeymoon like vacation some time later. This is due to financials.

I'm not too worried about it lasting for a honeymoon. But so far polish seems popular. I'm gonna keep watching this thread to see what more people may think

I like polish. Iook into getting an acrylic overlay or silk overlay over your natural nail. It lasts and your natural bail is protected at the same time

Definitely gel. Not as fake looking or damaging as acrylic. They will be brittle afterwards but better safe than sorry. I’ve had a lot of experience with fighting with my nails, and I would say my bread and butter is Nailtek brand of strengthener. Use that a while before to get them nice and strong and after you take the gel off to heal them.

I used to do gel for my nails. I can't do polish due to some of my choices in pets. I have a couple smaller birds but their beaks can still chip polish and I'd rather not have them accidentally ingesting it. They are also the reason I don't get my nails done anymore because it freaks one of them (The friendly one) out so much he would injure himself trying to get away when I would feed him. For my wedding however I will be doing red glitter French tips for my nails

Look in to Nexgen. It’s a powder dip. It’s all natural and lasts with absolutely no chipping for three weeks! I’ve been using nexgen for two years now and my nails are still strong. I did gel twice and my nails were brittle and awful. You can choose French sparkle or solid colors. It’s the best. I’ve converted all my friends too

I've had acrylic nails for the past 20 years. If I don't have the "fake" nails I have trouble typing and I'm also a nail biter. My nails grow pretty slowly, so I can get away with getting a fill done every 4 weeks instead of the standard two weeks.

I'll be getting a fill and polish a few days before the wedding. I've switched to gel polish lately so that I'm not wasting time waiting for my nail polish to dry before leaving the salon.

My friend has natural nails and she gets shellac done. Her nails stay nice for about 7-10 days.

The disadvantage to using traditional nail polish on natural nails is that the oils in your nails cause your polish to chip rather quickly.

I guess I'm confused. What are acrylics? I've always known the glued on nails as fake. It's just what other around me have called them while I was growing up.

Same! A little pricier than regular polish, but I don't normally get to wear nail polish because of my job, so for the 2.5 weeks I'll be off, I want it to last. Fake nails normally don't stay nice/attached for that long, and I feel like they'd get in the way.
