Poll: Cake or Cupcakes?

I'm going form y cake consultation tomorrow. FH and I both don't really eat cake and we're not set on what we want, but we know we don't want a bunch of leftover cake. So my question is, when you go to a wedding do you have a preference for cake vs. cupcakes? What is more likely to get eaten? Or...

I like both, but usually with cupcakes I can pick the flavor I want, not just stuck with the slice I get served from a big cake with 3 different flavors. So cupcakes.

As a guest, I would eat either and it wouldn't matter to me. As a bride, I'm really hoping we wind up with a cake...but if it's out of our budget we will have to settle for cupcakes.

I like cupcakes because it's easier for the guests to grab and go.

We are doing cake balls - No cutting, no worry of anything falling, we can box and refrigerate them, we get a bunch of flavors, and people can put them in baggies and take some home.

Cake. Cupcakes are like cake, but less.

Cupcakes! We are doing the small top cake to cut into with various flavors of cupcakes. Not only is it a tad bit cheaper, but it makes things easier as well for serving!

Cupcakes are so much more simple. No cutting to worry about. Smiley smile

Cupcakes are much less awkward to eat.

We are doing cupcakes for all of the guests, but having a small cake so we can still do the cake cutting ceremony. For us, this was just the most practical option. We wont have any serving staff, so we would have had to pay someone to come cut and plate the cake. Cupcakes are just easier... plus we get to do more flavors this way too, so everyone can pick something they like!

I love the cake and cupcake combination! But honestly, as long as it's cake i'd eat it happily.

If I really could pick, I would pick a piece of cake with a mini cupcake on top.

My mother has a deep abiding hate for wedding cupcakes, probably because they are all anyone was doing for a few years. That being said, I think they can be a good option, it depends on what you like. I personally like cake more, I think it can be less dense and have a better texture.

Either one. We're doing a small cake with tiers of cupcakes underneath - the best of both worlds!

I've always really liked icing, so maybe that's why I'm partial. I never really understand when people don't eat the icing because "it's too sweet." I always want to take the plate and eat their icing for them, but it's probably frowned upon from a social behavior standpoint.

Maybe I should have posted that in Confession Friday.

I prefer cake, but I want everyone to enjoy it so we are going the cupcake route. We have a couple of people who have celiac and I want them to have cake. Plus, they'll double as favors so I'm all for that!

I think it depends on the style/vibe of your wedding. One of my BMs wedding 2 years ago, she had cupcakes but it was shabby chic type wedding in the afternoon. Mine will be in a ball room and it's black tie so I will definitely do a cake. But as a guest, it really doesn't matter I'll eat anything! lol
