Poll: Cake or Cupcakes?

I'm going form y cake consultation tomorrow. FH and I both don't really eat cake and we're not set on what we want, but we know we don't want a bunch of leftover cake. So my question is, when you go to a wedding do you have a preference for cake vs. cupcakes? What is more likely to get eaten? Or...

So my question is, when you go to a wedding do you have a preference for cake vs. cupcakes? What is more likely to get eaten? Or does it matter?

I love cupcakes and cake at any time! For my wedding, we'll have a cake, but we're going the traditional route.

Last wedding I attended with cupcakes, everyone at the table had strong feelings: they were awkward to eat as they didn't know if they should cut them and eat with a fork, because they were a little too big to bite into OR they felt that the icing to cake ratio was off.

Glad we're sticking to cake. ;-)

I abhore cupcakes at weddings. Its a trend I cannot get behind. Infuriates me that everyone is trying to "class up" the same dessert our moms used to bring to school for our birthdays when we were 5. No.

We are doing a doughnut tower with a small cutting cake.

Im pretty traditional- i prefer cakes myself. However, ive been to many a wedding with cupcakes. I just dont like the tiers with cupcakes. Id rather it be a nice cake. But thats just me.

This is just like the plated vs. buffet dinner. People have their preferences and rarely change their mind. With cupcakes vs. cake it's typically pro cupcakes: cheaper, no cutting needed, more flavour choice. With pro-cake it's typically: better icing/cake ratio, fancier, typically more formal/traditional.

I prefer cake because of the icing/filling to cake ratio.

    Cake.

I honestly hate cupcakes for a wedding. I prefer to make them because typically they are so much easier to do but for a wedding I personally just think they suck. I want to see a beautiful cake, not a bunch of cupcakes.i

We are doing a small cake with a cupcake tier. Best of both worlds. Some brides do cake pops or donuts as well. There's a lot of options. Good luck.

We are doing both, a small cake and 3 dozen cupcakes. I like both equally, however my daughter prefers cupcakes.

Cake! Although cupcakes look adorable, I've always thought of them as one of the most awkward sweets to eat. No flat edge at the top! You have to bite into a mound of frosting. They also make my hands sticky. I mean, I could use a fork, but that seems counterintuitive.

I would eat either Smiley smile That being said, my baker said take whatever amount of people you're expecting, subtract 20%, and that's how much cake you should order to prevent leftovers.
