Poll: (kinda) Bride & groom speech...how long?

To start, I'm a banquet bar manager/bartender, I'm working at a wedding right now... The bride and groom are doing their thank you speech...going only 20 minutes and it doesn't sound like they're done any time soon! How long was (or is) your thank you speech?

I didn't know we had to give speeches - I was planning on going around to each table and thanking them for coming. I figured I'd thank the bridal party at the rehearsal dinner when I give them their gifts.

Yikes that is crazy. I plan on doing a quick thank you, maybe call out a few specific people and then tell everyone to drink up and get their butts on the dance floor!

We are not doing a thank you speech! My parents are hosting the wedding, so he will be saying a few words. My FH and I will thank our family and friends at the rehearsal dinner but I doubt we'll talk for more than a minute or two!

No speech at the wedding, but we are going to do a thank you at the RD. When we give gifts, we are just going to say a quick thank you & move on. I hate speaking & since I don't drink I have no liquid courage. But I do want to make sure to thank everyone while its still calm. Cause I am worried I will miss people on the day of the wedding.

20 min is way too long. Are they thanking people individually?

Ours will be 2min, if that. Short and sweet.

Thanking all those guests individually?? That's awful. We didn't do a thank you speech. We just went around and thanked everyone for coming like other ladies have said. So for those asking, no, you don't need one.

It ended up going for 35 minutes! I couldn't believe it! I've worked hundreds of weddings...been in the industry for 5 years and that was the longest I've ever heard. It was ridiculous

Omg 35 minutes that's out of hand. We will be walking to each table. All other speeches will be two minutes or less. Talk about boring goodness.

What were their poor guests doing while they blabbed on and on for 35 minutes?

They did their speech while dessert and coffee were being served, so they were eating and couldn't exactly run away lol
