Polyester Linen Napkins

Ciera, on April 20, 2020 at 9:42 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

Okay, I feel like I may be thinking a little too hard but I ordered the below napkins just 5 to see how they felt, and they are definitely different than the poly cotton restaurant napkins. I’m nervous ppl will be talking about them based on the material, but also thinking like, “okay after the wedding I will need to gather all the napkins and wash them”. I am having on the border cater Tex mex and it will be a buffet style. I was also maybe thinking of getting the disposable dinner napkins in burgundy instead and having them on the tables with utensils. Is this weird or tacky. I want that hanging napkin look, and I know I will not be able to achieve the look with the disposable ones since they will be shorter.

I think the napkins linked are fine. I don't see why people would talk about napkins being weird. As long as there is a napkin there for them to use!

However, disposable napkins on a nice table setting is something I don't think I would do, especially if you have a look in mind that you want to achieve. You're setting yourself up for failure and disappointment with those.

My reason was due to the napkins being really stiff and not really like the napkin material you would find at restaurants, is why I’m thinking it would feel weird when cleaning their mouth or wiping their hands

I do not plan on having chargers as that money can go to somewhere else, and since it is a Buffett style I will be doing nice plastic ware that will be set up at the Buffett line. Inspo of what I was thinking below. Lol I guess I will be find it’s just the texture of the napkins is throwing me off,My centerpieces will be will like the below, with the table numbers, and golf votives around ignore the blanket I was tryin for have something ivory set in place for like linens 😂Polyester Linen Napkins 1

Hi! I ordered my napkins from this same site in another color but they haven't arrived due to the color being out of stock and now the virus. Is there any way to wash the napkins with some fabric softener beforehand? I do agree with PP in that I don't think many folks if any will be thinking about the napkins to that extent though and I'd definitely go with a cloth napkin vs disposable for this kind of event

.....if people criticize the feel of the napkins, chances are they're grumpy and just looking to criticize anything. Most people will be fine with whatever napkins you have. I do agree with others that paper napkins don't quite achieve the same look. However, I feel like cloth napkins are cloth napkins regardless of the actual material blend.

Oooh!! That’s a great idea. I will wash them and see what happens. You definitely can’t beat their prices. I ordered my table runners in the same color and love them. I think I just had restaurant napkins in my when ordering, and when received they we’re the same texture. I totally get you and the other ladies point in PP though, and is really helping with my reassurance

Yay! So glad to be of help. I also googled ways to soften polyester and there were some other great suggestions in addition to the fabric softener. 😊

I purchased these napkins in the navy blue. I haven't washed them but defiantly will wash them before the wedding. I don't think people will talk about your napkins, it's such a small part of the wedding. We're doing a BBQ dinner and using disposable plates and silverware. I also like the way the linen napkins look draped on the tables. We want the tables to look nice, but don't want to spend a lot of money on something our guests won't even remember.

I have these exact napkins and I know just what you mean! I had expected them to feel different and be longer. I came to the conclusion that they are only 5 cents a piece, and that’s a pretty good deal! I would be upset if I bought more expensive napkins and my guests threw them away or got them so dirty the wash couldn’t fix it- but with 5 cents I don’t care. I want my money to go some place that really matters

Poly - Dacron napkins are miserable. They are linen look, but not absorbant like linen, or cotton. Water does not sink in well. So if there is a minor sloshed glass or spill, the person chases it round the table making a royal mess. The blend pills extremely easily. By the 4th wash, so unsightly and harsh feeling you will throw them away. And once grease gets in, it always leaves a shadow. And things like lipstick, cranberry or grape or the least bit of artificial colors, stain permanently . There are a fair number of places that sell 100% cotton for about a dollar each 16" x 16". If grease does not come out in first wash, let them sit in water and detergent a few hours, lid up, then wash. Before drying.
My mom just restocked on chocolate from here
