Porta Potty at Wedding?

FH and I found our location a beautiful little bridge that we just adore. Problem? No bathroom anywhere near by. So obviously our only option is to rent some sort of potty. We are on a pretty limited budget for the wedding, fortunately we saved a ton when we found out our venue is free. However it seems that potties are incredibly pricey (at least in our area) especially the nicer you go. Since our wedding is so small (maybe 40 people) we didn't see the need in renting a fancy(ish) potty trailer since the cheapest we have found are well over $1,000! Would it be tacky just to get a regular potty? We know our guest pretty well and they aren't the type to turn their nose up to this kind of thing. Should we rent a potty with the sink inside or a separate portable sink. I don't like Porta Potties as is much less the thought of using the sink inside one even though I know it will be fresh when we get it. I think people would feel more comfortable with the separate sink right?

Personally, porta potties at weddings is ick! However, if you must go this route, try getting the trailer porta potty.

@OP sounds like you didnt want advice you wanted validation. Unfortunately you are not going to get that here. PPs have given great advice, you have time to save up the money or find a new venue. Honestly i think it is gross and i would not enjoy myself because i would be holding in pee in all night.

Rethink this, you have time and options.

Unless someone forgets to flush you won't have to see what anyone did before you. She stated a flushing toilet would be used. When I use a public bathroom anywhere, just because everyone is so curious, I hover over the toilet. I'm not saying the bathroom is covered with stuff, unless your the type to not, clean up after yourself. If you think you've never been to a place where someone puked or dribbled on the seat in between cleanings im sorry to burst your bubble. Hopefully you all no the hover method in case nature calls and you have to relieve yourself. Who knew people got so riled up by bathrooms. While obviously plumbing is the prefered accommodation to anyone, she is having the wedding she can afford, just like everyone preaches on her and IMO I don't see it as a deal breaker.

This may sound like an overreaction, but I would rather squat on the ground than use a regular porta potty when I'm dressed up. Less mess on my dress.

Remember, you're probably going to be wearing some shade of white/light color. "Liquid" to dispense smell is not what you want on your dress.

At least get a model with a grab bar for disabled guests who may have a difficult time getting up and down due to arthritis, aging, joint replacements, etc.

I hope your FH has a speedy and successful recovery!

I would change your location if your only option is a regular porta potty. I've been to a wedding like this and lots of guests were bothered by it and talking about.

If she can't afford decent facilities, she is not having a wedding she can afford. If she insists on using this venue, there is no shame in saving up for a proper bathroom, even if that means postponing her date for a month or two. But by her own account, she CAN afford it, she just chooses not to. So in that case, she is not being a proper host.

If your venue is free, put the money into the fancy trailer. It's a must. I would look at that as the cost of your venue

I can't believe this. I don't care how rude or mean I sound but this is so beyond rude. I can tolerate a lot of rude things because I am fairly easy going, but if I went to a wedding where the only option was a PORT-A-POTTY I would leave right away. They're so disgusting and awful. And you have almost 2 years to save up for one and you say that you can't. So you need to change venues or dump something unnecessary like favors, flowers, decor, etc. and get your guests - your nearest and dearest - a place to use the bathroom. I don't care how amazing the view is, how beautiful the flowers are, or how touching the toasts would be, all I would remember was how I had to figure out how to use the bathroom without my dress touching anything and how gross I'd feel using those facilities. I can't even understand this.

I live in Texas and its perfectly fine to have portable toilets at an outdoor venue, wedding or otherwise. If you live in Texas I recommend Armadillo Portable Toilets, http://hotirontexas.com/

They have a/c restroom trailers as well as hand washing stations and regular portable restrooms.

I think you posted this on the wrong site. All of the people saying not to do a porta-potty are ridiculous! The day is about the two of you, and nobody is going to be like “Omg... we have to “go” in that???” If people leave early because they think it’s so gross, I personally wouldn’t even want them at my wedding! The naysayers on here must be very uptight and don’t have to worry about a budget. I am planning a wedding for my daughter and am getting the larger ones with the sinks inside. They also have some that actually flush! More expensive, but you will only need one. Look into that. Good luck!!
