Possible 2nd Quarantine?

Tone, on December 2, 2020 at 1:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
My partner and I have our wedding ceremony scheduled for july 1st 2021, but we’re super worried about another major shutdown since we’ve already put deposits down on most of our wedding and his family is supposed to be flying in from California. With Florida at almost 1 million cases currently and another possible shut down looming does anyone have any suggestions as to what we should do? The wedding is outdoors and is supposed to be small anyway (40) but his family would still have to fly in...

Your wedding is still a long ways away, and with the vaccines coming out there is really no way to tell what covid will look like in July. I think it really depends on how risk adverse you are in general, as there is no guarantee about what things will be like in 7 months.

I just wouldn’t have anyone buy their plane tickets yet or make sure their tickets are fully refundable.
I do agree with the PP, it’s really hard to tell what is going to happen in the next few months.
Don’t make any decision yet, just wait it out

It will really depend on everyone’s comfort level at that time, which is hard to predict right now. I would just suggest being open to people declining, but with that size outdoors it sounds realistic.

I wouldn't stress about this right now. July is a long ways away and a vaccine is due to come out at the first of the year. I would reevaluate the situation closer to Mary or April of 2021.

Depends on your comfort level. I absolutely hate wasted money nor will I enjoy a wedding where I have to wear a mask while exchanging vows with FH. We decided to cancel with the venue (got all the money back) and are having a tiny wedding instead with only 3 guests.

I don't think there will be another shutdown around that time especially with a vaccine becoming available in a couple of weeks. I wouldn't make any decisions yet I would at least wait until April-May 2021 before deciding anything

I don't think FL will shut down again. CA is a wild card, but even if they do I don't think they can prevent travel.

Delta flights purchased before 12/31 can be changed without fee. Maybe other airlines too?

I'm going to say that its going to be a great day because that is my 31st birthday as well and I have declared it will be AMAZING! lol.

Seriously though, as others have said, wait it out a little and stay optimistic. I pray it works out.

I think the best thing to do is to stay in close contact with your venue and vendors. Ask them about what they did during our first shutdown and what they would do/change if it happened again, and try to get it in writing (or in your contracts) if you can that way you have it if you need it. Since you're still 7 months out from your wedding, anything can happen and I can only imagine how stressful the uncertainty is. We could very well be in another shutdown or we could be reopened and life could be similar to what it was before COVID.
