Possible Officiant Alternatives

Sara, on January 2, 2019 at 10:11 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 6

Hi, my husband and I are getting married 'again' this summer for our friends and family that couldn't make it to our smaller wedding August last year. My question is what are alternatives for an officiant since we are technically already married and will have been for exactly one year by the time we have this one?

Well you can have anyone say whatever you like in that circumstance because it doesn’t need “to be legal” because it already is

Anyone can act as officiant at you vow renewal (celebration of marriage is another name that would be appropriate) since there aren't any legal requirements that need to be met.

I think if you want traditional full ceremony with professional officiant that’s acceptable or just having a friend or family member read words you wrote or found off templates are equally acceptable for renewals

Technically you don't even have to have an officiant since you're already legally married. I honestly would look into having a friend of family member read a few special words on you and your spouses' behalves.

I would say just have a reception type thing, still get dressed up and have a cake and food, but maybe skip the ceremony

My cousin renewed her vows last fall and had one of her sons read some things they'd written as well as share some memories and funny moments they'd had as a family.
