Post Card Invitations?

FutureMrs.Girlinghouse, on March 11, 2009 at 5:43 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

I'm realizing that it is a lot cheaper to use post cards as invitations. Has anyone ever done this? I was thinking it would be hard to do it for invitations to the wedding because there is no way to include reply cards but I think I'm going to use them for the invites for the bridal shower and for the reply cards. Tell me what you think and if you know any websites with good deals.

My sister-in-law used postcards for her reply cards and it worked wonderfully.

I have no idea what the prices would be though. Good luck!

you have to look at these. They are called seal and send invitations and are very inexpensive. The good thing about them is that you dont have to buy any envelopes with them. They fold up to eachother and the reply card tears right off as a post card. That way you only have to pay for regular postage on the invite and postcard postage on the reply card. Also, If you want to see one you can pick up to 3 styles and they will send samples to you FREE!!! you dont pay for shipping or anything!! you should look into it!

I was going to use Postcards as Save the Dates and I made my own (super cheap) I used $5 printing software I got at staples to design them, printed them on cardstock and used a rotary cutter to give them a "postcard edge". They came out great and I was able to tweak them until I was happy with them. vistaprint.com also does some free postcards too.

At www.newworldgreetings.com, we have partnered with Vista Print for inexpensive postcards, invitations, thank you's etc and if you want to have a most unique invitation, wedding vows, wedding keepsake poem as wedding favor and those all important thank you notes, think of us - I create customized poetry so you don't have to give a 2nd thought to what you want to say.

Vista Print.com I got 250 save the date post cards with a picture on the front and an downloaded image on the back for 40.00 w/ shipping. I only needed 150 but it was 100 free or 250 for 19.99. Each image downloaded was like 5 bucks.

    Hi FutureMrs.Girlinghouse!

I actually design wedding invitations and have done this about five times or so with Wedding Invitations, Shower Invites, etc. No one has had a problem and they love it. There are a few different ways we have done them though.

I haven't finished designing my Invitation Line yet so I have been doing custom quotes in the meantime.

If you are even just curious about it, I'd be happy to hear what you're looking for and give you a quote. My email is: ****@************.***

I'm thinking of doing this for my invites, like somebody mentioned vista print is a good one, and also Costco has some very affordable ones too.

I think for certain elements such as you suggested postcards are a great idea and a money saver. If you have an interest, any of the wedding designs for wedding stamps and stickers on our web site can be made into personalized postcards. The bride and groom names could go on the design side (for example) and the backside could have the event information pre-printed, saving you some time. There are some examples of designs on our Wedding Wire page and many more on our site.

I have heard of this before. It would be difficult to make the actual invitation a post card, but the reply card could be a post card. That way it cuts down on postage for you.

If you wanted to use Post Cards for the actual invites, couldn't you make a website and have people visit the website to RSVP instead of sending in a reply card? I do music, so my specialty definitely is not invitations, but that thought came to mind.

Like another bride said send & seals are a great idea! We're actually doing them for our wedding as part of a way to go Green & save some green!! Our invites are made of recycled paper i'm purchasing them through a local papyrus store or you can go to papyrus.com. Many companies offer send and seals though, google it!!

I actually did purchase envelopes, for them though made of recycled paper from expedx.com they look great, the color matches our invites to a "T" those are made of recycled paper as well!!! I did this because i was afraid of wedding crashers being able to look at the invites, but the response cards come back w/o envelopes & we save $ on postage b/c USPS is only charging us the postcard price for each response card.. look into you might be surprised how beautiful they really are..: Happy Planning!!

The seal and send invites are very nice but I do not suggest sending postcards as invites. They can absolutely be used for your reply cards.

I agree with Susan S. Seal and Sends are great money savers, and still save you postage on the RSVP postcard they come with. I also do not suggest using a postcard for the invitation. It has too much personal info on it. Basically, if some stranger or criminal receives the postcard by mistake, they might just plan on robbing you of all the wonderful gifts while you are on your honeymoon. It's sad, and maybe not very likely, but this has happened before to couples. It is important to keep your private info enclosed when sending it in the mail.
