Post card Save the Dates?

Staci, on October 2, 2013 at 1:47 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 20

I am considering sending my save the dates as post cards. I am thinking about just printing off a save the date picture as a postcard at Walmart's photo center. It will save me a bit of money and I actually think it is kind of cute and creative. Does anyone think this is just too cheesy or is it actually a good idea?

I don't recommend post cards unless you put them in an envelope. I did post cards and the pictures got messed up when they went through the mail. It wasn't the end of the world but I was still a little bummed

We went the route of postcards but they weren't picture post cards, which I find cheesy. They weren't terribly expensive, postage was cheaper and WeddingPaperDivas.com was super fast and very easy to work with!

We did postcards through zazzle and they turned out great. None of them got messed up in the mail--some going from NJ to Canada. I'm wondering if it's just the ink/paper type that may get messed up going through the stamping machine.

I'm doing postcards. It will be a copy of an old postcard of our venue. I am not worried about damage and I don't want to spend a lot of money on it.

I had a friend do postcards. It was cute but they were totally ruined in the mail. The pictures were all scratched up. I would put it in an envelope if you do chose to do a postcard.

I did postcards too but I did it through vistaprint. They always have specials going on so I got mine for 60% off. I think I paid a total of $25 for the 100 postcards, envelopes, and shipping fees (most expensive part) but sometimes you can find free shipping coupons online.

We did postcards through Vista Print as well - and I would definitely recommend them! They ship quickly and if you are unsure about your design, you can request that they send you a proof and it's only a couple bucks and you get 10 examples in the mail.

We designed our own and uploaded it right onto the postcard and they turned out great!

I also did post cards from vista print. I got 100 for $9.99, I paid a little extra for better paper stock. They turned out great. Great reviews!

I did postcards too! I'd rather go cheaper on the Save the Date and spend more money on other stuff. I sent them all at once and a few didn't get there- I'm not sure if they stuck together or the post office messed them up but other than that everything was fine. I thought they looked cute. A Save the Date isn't a wedding must have its just something additional so why not do something fun and cheap.

We did post cards - they did get a little banged up in the mail but we were on a tight budget so envelopes were out of the question

Thank you everyone! I feel much better now. I think I am going to stick with the postcard idea. If something does happen to the postcard and the person who received it really wanted to keep it then I will mail them another in an envelope.

I did postcards from Vistaprint but didn't get an awesome deal like many other ladies (lucky!!) I had no problems with them in the mail. I also asked the post office to hand cancel them instead of run them through the machines. Just a note with postcards - make sure you keep it to the smaller about 4x6 size. I did larger postcards and I had to pay the price of regular postage on them instead of postcard stamp pricing.

A friend of mine had done the post card for her STD and I loved them! I wanted to do them also... but FH was pretty gun ho on doing magnets. There isn't too many things he requested specific for the wedding so I let him win. I say go for the post cards!

I was thinking of forgoing the custom postcards and going with some vintage flower ones that fit our theme. They definitely seem like a more cost effective plan

When do you plan on sending them out? Every so often groupon has a deal for vistaprint (spend $17 get $70 worth of stuff). if you print through there, they come with the envelops. On vistaprint, its about 10 for $7.99 but if you open an account its 10 for $5.99 i believe. you end up geting 150 STDs for about 50-60 and you really only spent $17 Smiley smile

I did them on vistaprint last night and used a groupon for $15 for $45 worth of product so I made the postcards and bought return address labels.
