Post ceremony shoes

Kristen, on September 5, 2020 at 9:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

So I have my Betsey Johnson heels which I love and are perfect for the ceremony but I do not foresee me wearing them for 3 1/2 hours of photography post ceremony. I would love Kate Spade sneakers but cannot justify the price. I am curious everyone, what shoes are you wearing during or post ceremony that are comfortable.

I can’t do heels aha so I wore flats the entire time. Another thing I’ve seen are brides who change into flip flops for a more inexpensive option

I bought a pair of cute keds off posh mark for $30 that were maybe worn a handful of times and are in nearly perfect condition.

If you wear shoes of two different heights with your dress, it's likely to be too long or too short with one pair or the other. If your dress is hemmed to work with your heels, when you change to sneakers or other flats it will probably drag on the ground and you may step on it. Smiley sad

This. It happens frequently that the dress is altered for the 3" heels and as soon as those come off, the bride trips on her dress.

Have the dress altered to barefoot or flats height to prevent this.

I only bought one pair of shoes, but if I get a second pair for the reception, they'll probably be something like this (currently on sale for $35):https://www.toms.com/us/women/shoes/alpargatas/natural-floral-lace-womens-classics/10015069.html
Also, here's a link to the Ked's sale page: https://www.keds.com/en/women-shopby-sale/
They don't currently have any super weddingy ones on sale but they do have a few Kate Spade pairs including a glittery one and a few floral pairs from other designers.

You know what? You make a good point. I considered some wedges that are similar in height too as I can last longer in those. The sad part is it is the ball (the area with the toes I dunno the proper term lol) that hurts because they are flat and I will wear slip ons for some cushion but not sure I an stand in them for 4 hours. After my fitting I see I can stand long enough for the ceremony. Smiley smile

The glitter ones are cute but I think some of the other ladies make a good point. The same height shoe might be best.

Look at various options for cushioning the ball of your foot. Dr. Scholl's has a few different options and I'm sure there are others. I have some Dr. S's gel inserts for just the ball of my foot that I can wear with even the strappiest heels, and they help a LOT. Usually the ONLY time I wear heels is for a more formal event like a wedding, and the inserts have allowed me to stand and dance for hours when without them I'd barely get from the car to my seat at the venue. Good luck! Smiley heart

Yeah I have some slip on soles and they seem fairly comfortable but I may look into the soles. Sadly if I paid $99 (even with a DB credit) I want to wear them as long as possible ha ha ha.

That's a good point. Maybe you can find some wedges/block heels that are a similar height to your main shoes. If your heels are closed-toed there's a way you can tape two of your toes together that's supposed to make standing in heels for an extended period of time less painful. Also, if you really love your heels but want to switch to flats, you could have your dress hemmed for flats so you won't trip when you change, but your heels would be slightly more visible during the ceremony.

As others have pointed out, dresses are hemmed to a certain length to work with shoes of a certain height, and changing from 3-4" heels to flats or sneakers will almost certainly require you to hold up your dress or risk stepping on it and tripping over it.

I'd recommend finding some platform or wedge shoes that are more comfortable to wear but a similar height to your heels if you cannot envision yourself wearing the heels all night.

I bought my dress pre-owned and struggled to find shoes that were the right height for the length the dress was hemmed, but once I did it made it pretty obvious that wearing anything taller or shorter would not have been right.
