Post wedding depression

Alexandria, on December 7, 2021 at 9:06 PM Posted in Married Life 0 8
Hello. Wondering if anyone has experienced or can offer any suggestions on how to deal with the come down that occurs after the wedding and honeymoon are over. I feel such a great loss, as so much of my time and energy went into planning for this.

I totally had it. that's why i'm still on WW haha because i enjoy just generally things related to weddings.

another thing would be to just find a new project to start on.

One thing you could do is organize a scrapbook or memory book either from the entire wedding planning process (and you could include things like fabric swatches, timeline drafts, photos of the venues you looked at but didn't choose, notes/memories from all different aspects of wedding planning, etc) or from the wedding day (and you could include things like unused personalized napkins if you had them, getting ready photos, dried flowers from your bouquet, ceremony script, reception photos from photo booth, cards from guests, etc). Or, like Melle suggested, now is a great time to pick up a new project or hobby! House renovations/redecorating a room, art classes, or even meeting up with friends once a week to go hiking. You could also put energy into planning an epic trip for your first anniversary.

Totally with you on that Alexandria! I had my wedding on a Saturday and when I went back to work on Monday, I was balling my eyes out lol! It wasn't because I was sad, it was more because I was just soooo happy how my wedding turned out. It was just perfect.
What has been helping me was actually being active on here! Smiley smile I love helping others, and for me to help other brides prepare for their wedding day makes me feel good. I am able to share my wedding experience with others.
But one thing for sure is to also look forward to future projects and goals. You don't necessarily have to start the new year, you can actually start TODAY! Smiley laugh
And if you celebrate Christmas then you can look forward to doing Christmas activities with family and friends. And start shopping if you haven't already.

Just know that the wedding blues are totally normal!

My daughter (the bride) and I (MOB) both experienced a big let down after the wedding.... We had SO much fun planning it and the wedding was pretty much perfect, so there were no regrets about, but it was sad when it was over. As others suggested, initially, daughter focused her energy on planning the formal photo album and then, eventually, moved on to new projects (they moved cross country about 6 months after the wedding...). I think what you're experiencing is completely normal, so let yourself grieve a bit that it's over and then look for a new focus for your energies! Good luck! Smiley heart

Thank you so much. I think grieving the loss for a bit is important as to not just rush to push those feelings away. Such an emotional roller coaster! The pictures came back and that is definitely helping
