Post-wedding sadness.... Why did it have to end??

Nicole, on November 15, 2019 at 11:03 AM Posted in Married Life 0 11

Fellow married brides... I hate saying it, but does anyone else feel this sense of sadness that your wedding is over? Looking back, it was perfect - and it just kills me to think we will never have all those people who love us in one room again. Anyone else feel this way and how did you get over it?

My wedding is next week and I already feel this way. Not only because we probably won't have all of our loved ones in the same room again, but because I've truly loved the planning process. I'm excited to see all of the hard work come together, but I'm sad that almost two years of planning will be gone in just a few short hours!

Yes. Post wedding blues. It hit me hard. Could be why I'm still on wedding wire. My advice is to keep moving forward and finding new projects and things to focus on Smiley smile and staying on wedding wire helps. You can now pass your knowledge onto other brides to be

Post wedding blues is real! I described it as being like an emotional sugar crash. You spend your whole life dreaming of your wedding day, so much time planning it and stressing about it, then you have the best day of your life and..... it’s over a few hours later. It’s the most intense surge of emotions and yes, it’s totally normal to feel that “crash” after!

Take comfort in knowing you’re not alone and you’re not wrong to feel a little blue. I was beating myself up for feeling like that for a while because I felt like I was being spoiled and that I should just be thankful but.... beating myself up about it made it worse. You can be thankful it happened and also sad that it’s over. The two are not mutually exclusive. My best advice is honestly, let yourself be sad for a period of time. Get invested in other projects. Go on dates with your husband and appreciate how much free time (and money) you have now that you’re not planning a wedding. Did you have a videographer? Weirdly for me, when I felt the post wedding blues, looking at our photos made me sadder but watching our video actually cheered me up a little. Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️
The sadness will pass, I promise. I felt much improved after a month, and entirely better by 2 months.

This! I am so excited to see my video, I think I will probably cry all the way thru it the first 5 times, tears of joy of course.

What really helped me was having our honeymoon right after, it gave husband and I some much needed uninterrupted time together. After that we decided we were going to start making more of an effort with our friends, we had been neglecting them for a year because of planning, since that is not an excuse anymore we decided to reach out to them more often to get together. Also with all the holidays coming up I am plenty busy, both of our birthdays are in January so we are planning for those as well.

I don't know that I'm necessarily sad, just that I am having a hard time letting go of the wedding day itself. My wife and I were just talking about it today. For all it's flaws the day was perfect. It's not that we want to change a bunch of things, but how amazing would it be to go back and experience it differently? I'm so happy to be married and thrilled that our vision came together, but all that planning for one day leaves me wanting it to last longer or to do it all over again.

I love being married (6 weeks tomorrow 😊), but I am so sad it’s over! Our wedding was so beautiful and perfect and it was literally the best day of my life. Thinking back on it everyday, I just want to do it over and over again lol. I think that’s why I still come back to WW and read/participate in these forums. It still lets me feel involved in the wedding planning process that I loved so much!

I was a lurker on this forum throughout my wedding planning and now that I've crossed the threshold, so to speak, it makes me feel good to post and share what I learned from my personal experience.

Wow me too. I have a lot of regrets in how things were executed and unfinished or unused at the wedding.
My stash of batteries never left my friends car and I’m sort of resenting the fact she and her husband didn’t care to drop off all my Supplies they volunteered to carry, the planner not asking me for items and me not
    speaking up.

Got married 11.11.2019 very beautiful but cannot let go that I the light box signs and neon lights never were used because of batteries. So I had no welcome sign or any sign displayed.
Is it bad to ask the photographer to stage a welcome table with that Stuff to make me happy?

I think we moved on nicely because of the love we felt that day. We also plan to have family reunions every year with his side of the family and mine. Everyone meshed so well that it feels as if we’re all family, his mom and my mom hang out so much and we’ve blended our family so nicely that it feels that the wedding was just the beginning. Consider family gatherings or reunions to bring everyone together yearly or however often. the wedding may have just started something knew! Smiley smile peace and love!

I don't feel sad my wedding is over. i didn't feel relieved when it was over either - which is how I was expecting to feel. That part was a little odd. We went on our honeymoon immediately after and had time to decompress and lounge around. I agree with others here. Find a new project - for example my H and I have been approved to adopt a dog so we are getting the house ready for that. Share your knowledge with others on WW since you have lots to share at this point.
