OMG! I took my invites to usps and bc they are not completely flat they said the machine would rip them up and thus they need to be mailed as a parcel! $2.45 per postage. I knew they would be more but not that much more. lol. There is a small rhinestone clasp on a ribbon around the invite and bc of this its costing $2.45. I know this is my fault but I just wanted to vent about the cost of postage which is unbelievable to me. The invites are already done and sealed so it would be counterproductive for me to open them back up and take off the rhinestone clasp. What did you guys spend on postage? Was anyone else shocked?

UPDATE: So I went to 2 more post offices to see what they would say. 1 post office said my invites should be considered a large envelope .92c but the only way for me to get a refund is to go to the original post office . The 2nd post office first said .68c first class then changed it $2.45 after I told them about what the 1st charged at the first usps...ugh. overit!

Even after going to 3 post offices and getting 3 answers I decided to stick with the overpriced option just in case the others weren't right. Although this was a headache I can happily say I put them in the mail this morning and they are on the way to our friends and family!

Mine are going to be that much too but I figured since I am doing rsvps online it will make up for it ( a little). Think about how many people actually don't send in their cards and throw the stamp away. At least you know your invitation stamp will not be wasted.

@Beautyofdreams... they had this template thing they shoved my envelope through to see if it would slide through. It did, but not easily, they kinda had to shove it. That was how they determined it was a 'parcel' and not an envelope. They also told me I could 'risk' it; that whomever was stamping them in might, or might NOT, consider it an envelope. I went with the parcel price so I wouldn't risk them coming back. sometimes you just have to suck up the cost - postage is relatively cheap - keep that mantra in mind. It will all be great when you get your RSVPs back!!!

I couldn't stomach expensive invitations/stamps, so we paid the cost of a regular old stamp per envelope and per RSVP envelope.

People at the post office drive me nuts. I am dreading when i'll have to go and send my invitations. They all say different things and go with the middle price. Or at least what seems right.

@cheresa g. I'm in the same boat. I did online rsvps so I felt a little better about not having to buy stamps for the return envelope after spending so much.

@margaret e. They stuck mine in the same thing an it went through easily but they kept saying it would not pass the flexible bending test so I had to mark it as a parcel. Oh well! Looking forward to rspvs now!!

Your invites are beautiful by the way. We used 2oz stamps on our invites and saved a little bit of money because we did online RSVP for 130 of our 140 gueats. The other 10 got traditional RSVP cards with stamped return envelopes.

I am able to use a regular stamp on the rsvp and a 2 ounce on the outside. I highly recommend taking one to the post office to be weighed
