Poster Guestbook

Imani, on June 23, 2022 at 8:39 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 23
I have been back & forth with this guestbook/ wedding sign ordeal, but go with me for a second. The first picture is what I wanted, the second picture is what I did on my own through Canva, and it’s $7.50.

My question is, if I get this as a poster quality paper, and the size is 24x16 (or 18) if you’re a guest, would you be okay with signing a poster? I’m nervous it will be flimsy.
The other alternative guestbook we want to go with is the other canvas I made with the 3 photos, however, I’m nervous that if we glue the pictures on the canvas it won’t turn out right. 😆 I’d rather do a welcome sign and the poster instead of risking the canvas not turning out right. What you think? Poster? Canvas? I really don’t know what to do. Poster Guestbook 1Poster Guestbook 2

Whoa you nailed the design, that looks awesome. Depending on the type of canvas that might be hard to write on I d probably go with poster board and metallic sharpies, as long as there is something hard backing it I don't think it be too flimsy. But the photo one you made was really nice too you should put that somewhere too haha ( I m no help) Will you be framing it?

Yes, we will. We were going to have it on the table, and maybe something heavy on the edges if it did get too flimsy. That’s my only concern 😩 I don’t want it rolling up while people are trying to sign.

I wonder if you could adhere it to the mat board/cardboard for the frame or even have it completely in the frame but without the glass in it so it doesn't roll up.

I could prob get the mat board for the frame. I’ll look into both, cardboard might work too though.

Thanks a lot Frederic, I really do like this idea, A LOT. The poster can get here next week. I might go ahead and order it just to see the quality of the poster.

That design looks amazing! Staples has a way to print onto foam board. I think it's around $30.

You could have the poster mounted (adhered) onto foam core at the print department in an office supply store like Staples. That gives the poster permanent stability and would also make it easier to sign and/or display on an easel. It’s not terribly expensive. You can still frame it after folks sign. Or you can take it back to the print department and have them laminate the front to help preserve the poster - it does make it glossy - and get mounting hardware from a frame shop (Hobby Lobby, Michael’s) to attach to the back fir hanging without a frame.

Thanks a lot Pam! We’re also planning on having our welcome sign on the easel. We thought it might be easier to have the poster on the table to sign. Do you think it’ll be better to have both the welcome sign and this as the guestbook on easels? We could do that & the table can be for the place cards. I’m on Staples website now, I also like the laminated idea as well.

Is the foam board the same quality as a yard sign?

    Hi Imani -
I think you’re right about signing the poster in the table. Trying to sign it while in the easel could be awkward. But the backing would help give stability either way. Your design looks lovely!

Thank you so much! I’m checking out Office Depot, they have the option for a foam poster board but the reviews are saying it was delivered with a dent/crease. I am going to see if they have a pick up option.

When I’ve had it done I went into the store and they did it onsite - no issues with bending. That was pre Covid though so ??? Good luck!

It feels pretty sturdy but smoother and less hard then a yard sign. It's soft but holds shape. I can send you a picture of my signs when I get home that I ordered from them. I think it would work well for signing with Sharpie.

So i had canvases and people signed it and i feel like it's easier signing a poster because the canvas looks kind of weird using a pen on it, for instance
