Postpone the wedding but what about the shower

Alicia, on July 7, 2020 at 3:14 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 9
So we just made the decision to postpone our wedding but the shower venue has okay'd the shower for the end of the month. Do I still have the shower or do I need to postpone that too? We are unsure of what to do for our original date whether it be a very small ceremony or who knows! What do you guys think?

I would postpone and have my shower closer to my wedding date, but that’s a personal decision.

I postponed my wedding, and also postponed the bridal shower and bachelorette party, since I wanted them to be closer to my wedding date (I had to postpone to 2022). Ultimately, it is up to you on whether to postpone those events.

So we postponed our October wedding until next year but are still having a small family ceremony to be legally married this year. We are postponing the shower and bachelorette also to next year. I thought it would be better to have the shower closer to the wedding even though we are still getting married.

Thank you! I'm struggling with it since its the 26th! I know most people have their plans and gifts purchased, so I'd feel bad making them hold on to them for a whole year!

We're getting married in August, but we postponed the originally planned celebration to next year. My shower is going to be next weekend, but it's going to be a combination drive-through/Zoom party. I think if people have already RSVP'd and bought gifts they'll be happy to go to your shower this year. The only thing I'd add is to think about where your area is in relation to COVID. If you're in the northeast/mid-atlantic and things were bad but have gotten better, and you're willing to have masks, sanitizer, distancing, etc. you'll be okay. If you're anywhere else in the US and/or you're not willing to take COVID precautions, having a shower this month probably isn't a great idea.

Let us know what you decide to do and how it goes Alicia!

Depending on the local health situation in your area, it seems like going ahead with the existing plans might be easier for your guests right now!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I ended up postponing the shower too, it seemed silly to have it know the wedding was being moved to text year!
