Postponed Wedding Date

Kayla, on January 25, 2021 at 8:47 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
I got engaged the day before my 30th birthday in 2018. Decided to finish school in 2019 before we got married. Our original date was June 20, 2020. Then on February 2, 2020 we found out they we were expecting our first baby! So we postponed our wedding, shortly after the pandemic hit hard. I'm ready to start planning again but I don't know how to pick a date, I feel like we are all going to still be in mask for at least another year. Has anyone else postponed your wedding or did you accommodate your wedding plans to work during the pandemic? I'm getting so impatient! I just want my big day with my family and friends!

My husband and I decided to have a minimony in October with just our closest family and friends because we wanted to legally be married. Our wedding was scheduled for March 2021 which we have just postponed to October 2021 in hopes that things will at least be a little better. We didn't want to postpone to 2022 because just like you, we want to celebrate with our family and friends.

Hi Kayla! Congratulations on your baby!! Our original date was one week after yours! We postponed to August 2020 and accommodated the restrictions to more forward. Looking back, it was a good time considering kids weren’t in school, teachers were at home, and cases were lower at the time. For us, we don’t regret a smaller wedding and moving everything outdoors. Won’t lie - there are a lot of moving targets to push forward during the pandemic. To minimize impact, outdoors and small guest lists will smooth it out for you. Backyard weddings eliminate venues backing out at the last minute. Good luck ❤️

Thank you for your advice. As of now we have opted to do a small elopement with just our parents and 4 of our closest friends, and our baby of course!

    Congrats on the baby!!

how hectic to have to keep rescheduling. I would just elope and have a big party afterwards if you are worried about how things will be in the next year

We were originally supposed to get married 04-04-2020. When we were three weeks out, the world shut down, so we decided it was best to postpone. Originally we were shooting for 03-20-2021, but we decided that was too soon, so now we're on for 10-23-2021! We wanted a fall wedding, anyway, plus it's the day after my fiance's birthday. Smiley smile We're hoping that's far out enough that the vast majority of our guests will be both vaccinated AND up to traveling, and the world will largely be reopened. In the end, you just need to weigh all the options and decide what's best for you. Good luck!
