Postponed Wedding Invites

Paulette, on March 25, 2020 at 10:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Our wedding is suppose to be April 18th. It looks like we will probably be postponing because of the Coronavirus. For those of you that have already postponed, what are you doing about invites? Are you sending out new ones or are you just sending reminders with a different date? I’m trying to find out how to proceed once we get a new date.

My invites were sent out in January. My RSVPs were due way before Coronavirus was a reality here in my small midwestern town.

We postponed 11 days out from our wedding. So we chose to contact guests by facebook, phone, email. We even sent out thank yous for wedding presents we had already received with notes to save our new date. We went with word of mouth... specifically only to those who RSVPd yes. If they didnt respond... well that's on them.
We wont be sending out new save the dates or change the dates. We will be sending out new invitations and RSVP cards... once we get a lot closer, of course.

11 days out or 11 months out? I was kind of confused by that when you said you would send out new invites. Please clarify.

Spending more money on additional change of date notices can add up. I recommend a simple email, call or text. Your guests are undoubtedly aware of what’s going on and surely can empathize how it’s effecting your wedding plans!

Check with your vendor. I see vendors offering anywhere from 30% off to free when u need to reprint due to COVID. our vendor is offering 30% off so we plan to send invitations again. We were supposed to marry in April but moved to end of August.

We postponed 11 days from our wedding day. On March 17, we pulled the plug on most of our March 28 plans.

We are now 7 months away from our new date. so we will send invites and response cards once we get closer to our new date.

I'm not spending more money on a 2nd set. I did an evite deal. Got template off etsy for 9 bucks. People have already messaged me if they can't come. Postponed Wedding Invites 1

Hi Paulette! I'm so sorry you're having to make these decisions! I would send out Change the Dates to all the guests you were expecting to come. Then when it gets closer to time for your rescheduled wedding date (6-8 weeks before), send out a new set of invitations to everyone on the guest list.

Thanks Natalie. I was just wondering if that would be tacky. It’s good to have then opinion of others.

Thank you Laura! We’re devastated but being optimistic. We’re going to meet with our venue tomorrow to set a new date. We will then contact our vendors, bridal party and guests to let them know what is happening. I know that God is up to something and I have the faith that we all will get through this. Take care of yourself.

Doesn’t have to be tacky at all- plus who cares what people think. You have to do what makes sense for you. This is what we are sending out via email, text and Facebook. they’ve got tons of similar templates on Etsy for postponement and date change.Postponed Wedding Invites 2
