Postponed Wedding

Delaney, on May 24, 2021 at 11:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
So I decided to postpone my September 18, 2021 wedding back in January to September 17, 2022. I got all of our vendors switched around; however, I just remembered that I never sent anything to our guests saying we postponed it and we had already sent out save the dates for this year. Is it too late to mail something out saying it was postponed? I just feel dumb because we decided it a while ago and now stuff is opening back up so I just worry about what other people think.

    You’re not dumb! You’re a covid bride!
Just communicate to guests ASAP about the postponement, and be mindful of sending out next years save the dates and invites in a timely manner.
Obviously people are going to ask why, and if everything is okay- you don’t really have to tell them anything... maybe that you’re just trying to be mindful of your guests well being and so have chosen to take a precautionary measure in postponing the wedding. Just don’t tell them you forgot to update them lol

Well... you have to send out new save the dates, no? The alternative would be not saying anything and people not knowing the new date? Or does everyone already know by word of mouth

Communicate to the guests ASAP! I would probably start making calls as getting something printed and mailed will take too long at this point. Have any of your guests asked about it? September is not that far away and most people assume “normal” weddings will be happening by then. Call your guests... now.

Thankfully we are having a relatively smallish wedding (like 120 people) and it is family and friends so they mostly heard by word of mouth

It’s not too late Delaney!! But I’d definitely contact your guests ASAP about the new date!

You can send out change the date cards or email everyone, just make sure to get the word out!!💌

Thank you! I just ordered “Save the New Date” cards that I am going to mail out! I feel better because I was looking through the guest list and more probably 3/4 of them have heard by word of mouth anyways
