Last week, I proposed the idea of canceling everything and eloping in Hawaii (where our honeymoon is already booked) and FH said YES! 🥳 We already postponed our Las Vegas destination wedding from 10/10/20 to 10/30/21… then this May we completely changed everything and moved the wedding locally to San Diego (still on 10/30/21)… and now we’ve decided to elope with just the 2 of us in Hawaii and couldn’t be happier and relieved.
Sure, we’ve wasted $6k+ on deposits in two different states, on multiples save the date cards being mailed, and on a few wedding items purchased, etc.🤪 But it’s much less than the amount of balances remaining if we continued forward with the wedding. Sadly, as the Delta variant began increasing during the summer, it felt like a repeat of 2020 and wasn’t worth the uncertainty.
I’m so happy and excited again!!! It’s like all of the joy rushed back as soon as we paid the deposit to the wedding planners in Hawaii. Obviously, this wasn’t the original (or even the second) wedding plan… but life happens 🤷🏽♀️. After going through the many ups and downs of being a Covid couple, the idea of an intimate Hawaiian ceremony on the beach and the adventure of eloping, feels so thrilling and special.
Yesterday we emailed our wedding vendors with a cancellation notice. But, to inform our guests, I found digital cancellation templates on Etsy. So we’ll purchase, download and text those this weekend. One other change is that we’re getting married on Halloween now instead of the day before. It just seemed funny and perfectly fitting, since this wedding planning during Covid definitely turned into a nightmare LOL!!!
Looking back, I wish we would’ve selected this plan right after postponing last year. But, it all adds to our story. Through this wild journey, I mostly LOVE how we’re coming full circle…. Hawaii is where FH proposed and now it’s where we’re eloping.
