Hi everyone,

Are any April brides pulling the trigger and postponing their wedding?

My wedding is on April 9, 2021 with the church ceremony in NJ and the reception in Philadelphia. We plan on having no more than 140 guests.
I keep going back and forth of what to do because vaccines will be distributed to healthcare workers next week (atleast in my area I heard they are) and I feel that we are in the bubble of us being okay in April but also hearing different things. I was going to wait to decide but am scared if I wait too long we won’t get any availability for 2021.
How are all the spring brides doing?

I'm not excited about the idea of postponing for the 3rd time, I can tell you that. That's right 3rd time: 4/25/2020,9/26/2020, 4/3/2021!

We live in NJ and the restrictions are so strict and complicated. In addition our governor botched the vaccine roll-out so we're behind the rest of the country....this means we're not confident April in NJ would be possible in any scenario. We will be sadly contacting all of our vendors for a 4th wedding date.

Hi! After a lot if debating, we have pushed our wedding date back from April 29th to August 5th. Our biggest reasons were the 100 day mask mandate, the availability of vaccines by then and the fact that our Mayor currently has a 10 person limit on gatherings. We have 150 people total ( including the wedding party) and I can’t imagine excluding anyone! It was hard enough to get that number down to where it is!

My wedding was April 3, 2021. Me and my fiancé will still get married on that date, however we're pushing the wedding back a whole year. Our new wedding date is April 1, 2022...yes...I know...it's April Fools day lol. This is our first and only time we will postpone.

We decided this because in our state vaccines will not come to the general public until well into the spring or summer of 2021 and we're confident most of our guest won't take it, annnnddd cases are still rising. Our venders so far have been beyond understanding and easily moved along with us. My wedding planner has been a blessing too. Honestly I'm lucky because I know plenty of brides who were not as fortunate.

I'm sad because two weeks ago I picked my dress and it was so beautiful....and I realize I won't wear it for nearly two more years.

My mom said that she doesn't think it'll be a good idea to let guest know if we're already married...I said they're going to a free-ish party, (I say ish bc they're paying for their travel and hotel). Now all I have to worry about is April showers lol and if the pandemic is going to go into 2022....

April Bride here! After patiently waiting for April 21’ to arrive we made the decision this past December to postpone our NYC wedding. We felt April just wasn’t enough time to allow the vaccine to make it’s mark and people are still so weary about being in confined spaces. The idea of having hundreds of pictures of people in masks for me was a bit cringe worthy so I’m willing to wait. Currently in New York there are restrictions on open bar services, dancing, seating arrangements that felt so restrictive so.. patience is key. I hope April 2022 will allow for a wonderful hundred guest indoor/outdoor wedding celebration. In the interim we have decided to have a Minimony with our parents as our guests of honor. Happy New Year’s to all and remain faithful that all that you’re planning will come to fruition.

That's what we are going to do. We have our room booked at the beach and if gatherings aren't allowed in April (they are banned right now in Southern California) we are just going to stand on the sand with our officiant and do it anyway.

Thanks everyone for all your input on my post !! I can’t believe how many responses I received. We decided to push back our wedding to Thursday, July 22, 2021. I didn’t want to keep waiting and risk losing my vendors or postponing it a whole year. I’m glad we decided to postpone when we did because my venue had zero Fridays/Saturdays left in the summer!

I’m lucky this date worked out for my venue and all my vendors. Hoping for better things in the summer!

Well looks like COVID not going anywhere because people not wanting to mask up. So we have to decide what we want to do. I married my love on 4-3-20 with just immediate family and friends and I didn’t wear my dress. Our plan is to renew our vowels on 4-3-21 because everything is already paid for. I think that we will just celebrate with immediate family once again and I’m wearing my dress. COVID not taking my joy and we have plenty of masks.

    Good Luck everyone 😊

    Hi Sharon,
I disagree with the reson as to why it's not going anywhere. Good luck to you as well.

We are certainly carrying on with ours! We are keeping it relatively small, inviting half of the people we originally were going to if it were normal circumstances, which was 170. We will be taking whatever precautions we need.

We just postponed our April 10, 2021 wedding to September 2021. Disappointing, but I am too nervous about my parents and older guests. April is still so iffy about vaccinations. I know I'll enjoy my wedding fuller during a time where (*fingers crossed*) everyone (who wants to be) can be vaccinated.

We’re having our wedding 4/3/21 with 75 guests. Indoor reception but ceremony and cocktail hour are outside. My fiancé is deploying on 4/16/21 so really don’t have to wait for over a year to plan... so🤞🏼

It’s just my opinion and I know from experience, that the cases are rising. I know people who were out and about hanging with people and not wearing a mask. Then days later they feel sick and have to go get tested. To me it’s just one reason not the main reason....
