My fiance and I are fully paying for our own wedding and will hard pressed to save enough for both the wedding and honeymoon at the same time. We are debating postponing the honeymoon to maybe our 1 year anniversary that way it is less stressful to save extra money in a shorter period of time. I know many people have taken later honeymoons.

Has anyone done this or something similar, and have you found it to be helpful/more relaxing, especially financially? Thanks!

FH and I are paying for everything ourselves and we are close to $25K at this point. We are not having a honeymoon as we really won't have funds for it.

I'm all for postponing a honeymoon on your year anniversary. You will definitely want to do something special on that day, so a honeymoon would be the perfect idea.

We aren't taking a honeymoon at all; we will take a vacation in July like we always do. We are trying to save money as we are going to start trying for a baby in a few months.

I'm getting married at the end of this month and am not going on a honeymoon immediately after either. We're moving in October and I just started a new job, plus the wedding has us cleaned out. So we plan to wait until next spring and go to Switzerland. Everyone keeps asking about where the HM is and will have their opinion about waiting, but I think it's a great plan!

This is pretty much our plan as we're also paying for our wedding and HM. After our wedding day we'll take a mini-moon and rent a cabin in the mountains for a few days. Our 1 year anniversary is when we'll go all out for a vacation.

Yeah, we are not going on a honeymoon right away. We might be moving soon after we are married so thought that was a priority over a vacation

We had to cancel ours and are putting off ours as well for at least one year because of new medical concerns. We are going on a local mini moon after the wedding.

Due to work schedules, our honeymoon will be in December (4 months after our wedding). We went on a 3 day "minimoon" directly after the wedding though.

We're contemplating pushing it back a few months because FH will probably be starting a new job around the time of our wedding. Plus, the weather will be better!

We were going to go on a mini-vacation to Florida and do our actual honeymoon later as we were in the same situation. Paying for the whole thing is expensive! But then we looked at Costco and they have some amazing vacation deals! It ended up being the same price as our mini-vacation, so now we're going on a real honeymoon two days after the wedding because it was so well priced.

I told my best friend about it who was also in the same boat, and now they're going to Jamaica.

I would definitely give it a look. You don't have to be a member to look at the deals on their website, only to buy one. And if you want to buy one, the membership is about $50.

We're waiting 8-9 months after our wedding BC that's when I get more time off. Working for a public school system, I get very little time off during the school year. Honeymoon will be the summer afterwards.

Have you considered taking out a credit card for hotels or air miles and using it for all your wedding expenses (and pay it off right away)? Most people can't believe how little we ended up spending on our week trip to London. We used the IHG rewards credit card, and got 5 out of 7 nights of hotel free. I see your wedding is over a year away so it may be possible to earn enough by then! Postponing is always an option, I just know for me personally I'm 10x more excited for the honeymoon than the wedding lol

I have a card like that which we are going to use for flights, but our biggest wedding expenses have pretty big fees if you use a card meaning we will spend hundreds extra to put it on our card which doesn't really help in the long run.

We are getting married in October and going on the HM in December just for that reason - to give us time to save more money because everything will be paid in cash. I refuse to put anything on a credit card.
