Potpourri instead of petals for aisle?

Susan, on June 30, 2017 at 6:20 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 13

Originally I wanted rose petals until I saw the cost... it's a long aisle under a pavilion Then bought biodegradable 1" circle confetti. Today I found the mother load of potpourri and dried flowers at the thrift store in colors that work with ours. Thinking of using the potpourri down the aisle sides and white confetti for the flower girls. Does that sound weird?

That sounds really stinky to be honest. I wouldn't do that.

I'm super sensitive to flowery scents and potpourri is really strong.

    Stick to the confetti

You may want to ask someone at your venue if they recommend lining your aisle with loose objects like potpourri. I originally wanted to line the aisle at our outdoor venue with rose petals and both my florist and venue's wedding planner told me it hadn't gone well in the past at the venue. It would get windy and the petals would end up everywhere. I imagine the same would happen with potpourri outside.

I agree. The smell could be a major issue. And is that even allowed by your venue? The things in typical potpourri would take years to break down.

I agree with PPs. The smell of potpourri triggers migraines for me.

Dead, dried, withered flowers don't exactly scream "wedding"

Why can't you do silk? I wouldn't be a fan of smelling potpourri at a wedding. It would be a wtf moment for me

The venue part we don't have to worry about, but I can see where the scent could be a problem. For as much as I bought, it doesn't really smell. I think it's pretty old. I'll stick with the confetti. Thanks for the responses!

Eh, "dead, dried, withered flowers" lining the aisle of an outdoor fall ceremony... wouldn't get a second thought from someone like me. Scent yes.

I get migraines from potpourri. Many people are sensitive to strong smells. My florist gave me free petals as part of my flower package. Check with the florist.
