Pre-owned Wedding Dresses... Thoughts?

Ashley, on August 1, 2019 at 6:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 48
I’m debating if buying a pre-owned wedding dress is OKAY, if it’s something appropriate enough to cut costs on....

I would personally be okay with it, but it really depends on how you feel since you're wearing it. A lot of time, preowned dresses aren't even worn if that helps at all..

I think so ! Especially if the condition is nice and the sizing fits you and it would be a fraction of the cost!

Definitely a personal choice but I’d be fine with it!! I think there’s some superstitions (same thing with pre-owned engagement rings and wedding rings) but I don’t put much stock in that- if you find one you love and it saves you money I’d say go for it!!

I was going to go that route but then I found lace Mary on Etsy. She’s making my custom lace a line wedding dress for $600. Her reviews are amazing and she’s super communicative. I would check her out!

I would say yes as long as you can try it on. Too many horror stories about women trying to do that and then paying more for alterations later

I'd yes if it's like new. Sometimes the alterations are extensive and need to be undone.

If you like the DRESS, it doesn’t matter that is used or from fifth avenue. BEST OF LUCK 💖

Definitely okay! Just be cautious of how any alternations have to be done.

Absolutely fine! It’s a great way to get a more expensive dress than you could afford new. Mine was never owned by another bride but it was a sample worn by several brides. I would’ve bought used from another bride if I liked the dress.

Found the dress I wanted for half off, used and completely unaltered and I JUMPED on it. I'm not sure I would have gone for it if it had been seriously altered before, but it was practically brand new. Definitely a steal.

I got my dress for 50 on ebay. Brand new with tags, never tried on until I put it on. I have a little bit of altering to do but it's amazing and I'm in love with it!!! I'm in the process of adding a pocket for my phone (and tissues), making a petticoat, and when his clothes come in, I'm going to find a nice chunk of fabric similar (if not exactly like his) for a belt for my dress. Hit up ebay or amazon! They've saved us SO MUCH MONEY!!

We did that. Mine was used; NotFroofy's was a sample. The only thing I would caution you about is that if you are buying online (as opposed to a consignment store), you try on the dress at a local salon before buying. It is really hard to tell from a photo how a dress will look on you.

I'm going buy a second hand dress. There is a second bridal shop in my town, all the proceeds go to help end Sex Trafficking. It's important to me to give back and support non-profits and local businesses. A second hand dress can also be altered to make it your own.

I don’t see any reason it wouldn’t be okay. I’m sure someone out there has some superstition about it but I see no reason not to buy it if you love it and it looks good!

If you like it and think it'll look good go for it. I'm using some decorations, flower girl accessories, and a pettie coat I got at a thrift shop. Nothing wrong with keeping costs down.
