Pre-stamped rsvp cards

Shannon, on December 25, 2018 at 11:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13
I was planning on putting stamps on all the RSVP cards. Then I thought, if people RSVP via our website then I have wasted money on stamps. What would you do?

We are also giving mail in and online options. I think it's just a risk you run. Unless you only send paper RSVPs to the older/more traditional crowd.

I did both. I would say maybe 40% used the rsvp cards, 10% used the website, and I had to call the rest. On the one hand there was wasted money, on the other hand despite the website being on the save the dates, and rsvp cards there were still people who didn't know we had a website let alone how to rsvp through it. I will say it felt more exciting getting the rsvps in the mail, but that could just be my own personal preference.

Agreed! I will be more excited to check my mail everyday, better than getting the typical bills and junk mail 😂

I thought about this same thing and decided that we will do both website rsvp and mail in. Since most of my family does alot of online activity I'll send RSVP to all but only prestamp the ones I know would prefer mailing i.e my grandparents and older family members. I put the website on my STDs and I got a few rsvps on the website already without the invites even being sent yet.

I agree with this. What you could also do is cut the stamp from the booklet or roll so the backing is still on it and insert with the invitations. Yes you’ll be spending the same amount of money and would be a risk on your end, but if they choose the online option then they could use the stamp still on something else instead of it just going straight in the trash. Just an idea Smiley smile

This is what I’m doing. I printed 2 different RSVP cards. One to older and out of town family that gives the option to mail back or rsvp online and another to younger/local family to just rsvp online

I’m going to waste the money on the extra stamps. Of all our wedding expenses it’s the smallest.

I put stamps on all the envelopes. It was such a minor cost compared to everything else.

Hi Shannon! Welcome to WeddingWire and congrats on your engagement! That's a good point here. Depending if you want to do all paper RSVP's or all online RSVPing, it's definitely a risk that stamps may be wasted. You received some great feedback here from the others in our Community about what they are doing. It's really up to you how you'd like to receive your RSVPs, possible stamp expenses in-mind. Smiley heart How many invites are you sending out?

I would include stamps on all RSVP cards... not a single person RSVP'd via our website, they all mailed there's back in... well the ones that actually RSVP'd anyway lol we did a few a few non-responders.

If you do both mail and online, that’s just what happens. We are only doing online/ phone, so we are saving the extra postage expense.

You could possibly not include the stamp on the RSVP cards. Your guests can simply put a stamp on the card if they are choosing to respond via mail versus online. That way you're not wasting any stamps.

Granted, I only did the paper/mail RSVPs but I went ahead and stamped them. Just made it easier for them to return it. We got all of them back, so I can't say it didn't work haha.
