Pre-Wedding Tanning

Sarah, on March 18, 2016 at 10:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

So I know there have been some threads about this before, but it seemed like most people were thinking of spray tanning. I will not be taking the spray tan route as I have had a bad experience with it and am terrified of it coloring my dress. I am looking for any opinions of those who have gone to the normal tanning beds! It is not something I want to keep up, but I was thinking of going a few times about a month prior to my June wedding just to give me a little glow...? Any thoughts or advice about this process? I am unsure about the different types of beds and how long people usually go for, as well.

Edited because words are hard

I'm going to get a spray tan before my bridal shower because I'm wearing a white dress and I want to try it out to see if I'll like it for my wedding.

No to tanning beds for me. I don't think they're worth it for the possible damage done.. And have you ever seen final destination? Nuhuh.

I used to manage a tanning salon. if you're going to use tanning beds, you definitely want to go in slowly. Start at a very low time frame in a bed with a good lotion and the stick on eyewear. Ask the salon consultant which bed they recommend for beginners. They will be able to give you some guidance as far as their equipment.

Katrina is right. I do not promote using a tanning bed but a long time ago I tried it. The first few times I went for short periods and barely saw a difference so the fourth time I stayed in a little longer and I FRIED. If you go, follow the instructions and go slowly (but honestly, skin cancer is a real concern, I wouldn't recommend it).

Also, if your FH isn't tan, you might look especially dark next to him in pictures if you do a deep tan, so stop at a glow Smiley smile

Please just use a spray tan, or embrace your natural skin. You don't want to look "fake" on your wedding day.

And skin cancer is real. I had a mole removed on my back that has ruined my tattoo and has left a scar that resembles a bullet hole. They had to dig down through my muscle with just local anesthetic.

It could have been a lot worse, but even just that was awful.

No one is ever going to be like "the bride's skin is too pale."

I spray tan for all major events! Honestly, go 48 hours before the big event. Your tan won't come off or get on your clothes. I go to a lady who does it and she does an awesome job.

Actual tanning beds aren't worth it. Wrinkles are real and so is skin cancer. I used to tan a lot back in the day, I've had to have moles removed as a result. It's not worth it, honestly.

Yikes okay. I guess I just really need to go in an talk to a consultant. I am very fair skinned, and I don't get dark at all--I guess I am just hoping for a bit more contrast between me and the white dress! Plus we are headed to Belize after and I wanted a little base so I didn't completely lobster-fy there.....I just will have to make a trip over and talk to someone. Thank you ladies!

@FutureLivi thanks for the spray tan confidence!

Spray tans won't come off on the dress. I would play volleyball, white kneepads, socks, etc... Make sure you follow the pre-spray tan steps and you'll be fine. You may have gone too dark your first time. Talk to the tanning locations consultant for advice
