It happens. No method of birth control is 100%. Even sterilization can fail. My second was conceived while I was on the pill. She's an incredible blessing to us and the others around her.

I got pregnant while taking BC pills and was religious about taking them. I was still spotting (which was my “period normal”) so I didn’t find out until i was 6 months in! BC pills aren’t the best method anymore, I got the implant after. Congrats!

I just saw your other post that you just started birth control about a month ago. Birth control is never 100% and you may have conceived during the first few days of being on it. I’m not a doctor, but was under the impression that it doesn’t really kick in until about a week or two of using it.

He’s pissed you’re pregnant? Can I ask why?

If you just finished up your first pack of pills, that’s why it wasn’t 100% effective. It takes time for the hormones to build up in your system. Every time I’ve gone off and then gone back on the pill the doctor has always said to use a secondary form of birth control if I wanted to be sure I wouldn’t get pregnant. (And even then nothing is a guaranteed form of birth control)

My doctor was very explicit when I started it that the first couple weeks I should continue to use other preventative measures for preganancy because it takes a couple months for your body to adjust to bc. I'm surprised your doctor didn't mention this. That would be a big thing to leave out.

Birth control isn't effective for about a month after you start taking it. The hormones have to build up in your system and regulate. If your fiance is upset that you are pregnant, he has no reason to be, except that he wasn't careful. I'm sorry for the timing for you, but every blessing has it's own timing. Congratulations and good luck.

My husband was conceived when his mom was on birth control. They say everything happens for a reason. The reason might not be clear just yet, but someday you'll know. Congratulations and best of luck with everything! Cant wait to see your pictures ❤

Did you take a preg test before you started birth control pills? Because pregnancy tests can only detect pregnancy about a wk after conception.

What made you think you were pregnant now to test?

Agree that birth control pills dont work instantly unless you have them timed very well and need secondary protection.

Also, "typical" use of birth control put their effective rate at about 85%, not the quoted 99% as this is from medical studies.

Aw!! Well at least your wedding is almost here so there is not too much time to have changes in your body. Your dress will still fit the same! I have a friend who has gotten pregnant twice on birth control. It’s more common than people think. How is your fiancé taking it? Good luck!
