My oldest was 7 months pregnant at her wedding. We found a dress at David’s Bridal that had an empire waist and ordered it 3 sizes bigger than she was at the time. The seamstress who did her alterations said we did a good job picking the dress and was able to make it fit perfectly for her day. She’s been married now going on 8 years and has 4 children. She jokes that she’ll always be able to fit in her wedding gown! Best of luck to you!

I will have to check them out! How long before the wedding did she get it altered?

Welcome to the community Gwyneth! A huge congratulations on both your engagement and your pregnancy!! You must be so excited about both!!

When starting your dress search, I would definitely recommend contacting the bridal salons in advance. This way they will know to have dresses ready that will compliment and flatter a pregnant belly! There are also some wedding dress styles that are loose and flowing around the stomach area so it will allow for some growing room without having to get it altered a huge amount. You should also consider how far in advance you will be ordering your dress and how long it will take to be delivered to the store.

Most of all, you want to ensure you feel comfortable on your wedding day so be sure to choose something that you love but also will enjoy wearing all day!

I found a couple of articles in the WeddingWire ideas section that might be of some help to you also -

With more structured materials, corset-back dresses are best for accommodating fluctuations in size. I'd definitely consider a corset-back dress, a dress in a forgiving stretching fabric, or a flowing loose silhouette (or any combination of those) if you will be pregnant for your wedding, since it will be impossible to predict exactly what size and shape you will be on your big day.

I found out I was a month pregnant after buying my dress, so I’ll be about 7 month soon at the wedding. My bridal shop has been amazing! They stopped the order and suggested I order the dress 4 or 6 sizes large to be safe, and they’ll alter it as needed leading up to the big day.

Ahhhh congratulations!!! I’m in the same boat! It’s found out we are pregnant today (ahhhhh!) and will be almost 6 months when we get married this July. Already paid for my dress in full and can’t return or exchange 😟 going tomorrow to see what they can do. Hopefully something because the back is all lace and see through and tight in the belly!
