Prelude Music help

Shelby, on January 21, 2018 at 9:15 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8

Happy Sunday!

I'm working on putting together our songs for the ceremony right now and seriously struggling! If you've picked your prelude, processional, ANY songs can you share them below? Are you going for vocal, instrumental, or both? I have the song picked for when I come down (Instrumental of A Thousand Years) but that is all.

Thanks in advance! Smiley heart

I’m struggling a bit too with this. However I have narrowed it down to only instrumental musics for the ceremony...

We’re hiring a string quartet for our ceremony and cocktail hour. We haven’t made any selections for the prelude, but we want there to be mostly modern songs, and we want to include some stuff from movie soundtracks, mainly Disney and Star Wars (we love the cantina song!) For the processional, we actually decided this weekend to have the wedding party and myself all walk down to “Somebody to Love” by Queen. The quartet will play “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder for the recessional.

We're having a violinist and a cellist play for our ceremony and they're playing for about a half an hour before we start the processional as well as throughout the ceremony. We picked things like "Blackbird" by The Beatles, "Here Comes The Sun" and a few others that would just be nice to listen to for our guests as they arrived. For processional, we chose the Jurassic Park Theme (honestly I laughed when my mom suggested it but then I really listened to it and its GORGEOUS) and we're walking out after the ceremony to "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis. I personally don't think any vocal performances would go with the vision I have for the wedding but I definitely think they can be special and powerful depending on the song.

I come from a family and community of musicians so planning the music for our wedding was one of my favourite tasks!

we didn't have a prelude, but the rest went like this...

Processional (H, WP, and me and my folks): Strangers by The Kinks, sung and played by my brothers

Registry signing (i think this is a Canadian thing): Han and Luke's love theme from Star Wars, played by my BFF/BM on violin (this was super fun as an inside joke--we could tell that some guests picked up on what it was but to everyone else it was just a pretty violin song so it worked!)

Recessional: Ain't No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell
