Premarital education

State of FL offers discount on license with premarital classes.

Any premarital education class is what you make of it. Some will find it a waste of time, so will take it to heart. If your counselor does not do it for you, request someone else.

We didn't fo any premarital counseling. That being said, we had lived together for 5 years prior to marriage and already had a shared account for living expenses, talked about all sorts of financial and other short/long term goals, and I am in grad school to become a psychologist, so I kind of know the types of things discussed in these contexts. An online program or book can be helpful if you put in the work. The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work
by John M. Gottman, PhD is a book my old supervisor recommends for couples. There are some others out there, but I don't remember them off the top of my head. Others hopefully will chime in with their recommendations.

We started ours in person and finished it by ourselves. We just could not find the time to make it to the classes. No issues and we still were able to take and gain from the class by ourselves.
