Printing at Staples, Kinko's, etc.

ValZtoB, on January 27, 2015 at 6:50 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 12

I DIY'd my programs and I am very happy with the product. My question is:

A. Has anyone ever taken something into a big box store to be printed;

B. If so, did they let you bring in your own media (i.e., card stock)?

I apologize if this is a repeat topic. I'm on mobile and cannot search. Thanks!

    My MOH printed invites at Staples a few years ago. They came out really nice. She used the stores card stock so I'm not sure about using your own.

    I'm not sure big box stores let you bring your own paper. You can always call and ask. You would prob have more luck at a local place if you want to use your own paper. I bought a cheap kit at Michael's and printed them myself. It was fairly easy.

    I've gotten digital files printed at Staples multiple times, but I'm pretty sure you have to use their card stock! If you have some kind of specialty paper they don't carry, maybe you can talk them into it Smiley smile

    I brought in my hand drawn save the date to a Fedex office and print center and was able to use my own cardstock without any problems

    ETA normally most places like that want you to email them the file if it's digital

    Most places prefer you use their card stock because they know how it will perform on their equipment. Call ahead and ask. If they do allow you to bring in your own, ask what types and weights of cover stock are ok, to be sure you purchase the right kind of paper for their equipment. Some papers are only made for inkjet printers and others can only be used in laser printers. Some card stocks are too thick for certain laser printers.

    I had my programs printed as Staples and they turned out perfect. I just used their premium white paper. I am not aware of anything regarding bringing in your own.

    Thank you for all of the comments and suggestions. I went to Staples and they are going to print the programs for I think $.20 apiece and their card stock was nicer than my card stock so I'm good to go. Thank you!

    My Staples let me bring in my own paper and printed each sheet for $0.50 (I'm in Scottsdale, Arizona). Be sure to bring in a sample of the paper before you print to get an idea of how it will look.

    The first time I took in a card stock I loved it was too thick for the printer and would jam if they tried to print more than one at a time. I ended up purchasing paper from paperandmore.com- great customer service and cheap flat rate shipping. Plus they let you purchase samples of anything for .50 a piece! So I definitely suggest a trial run before you purchase paper Smiley smile

    Good info! We are creating our own programs as well. I love the cream shimmery (not glittery) paper I ordered a sample of, so I need to find someone who will print on it. I'll have to start looking around!
