Printing Help: How can I print Individual Guest Names on Indv. Cards?

CK, on April 6, 2011 at 11:35 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 16

We're thinking of using individual scalloped cards such as these as our escort/place cards (non-tented type).

Short of handwriting 175 names & table numbers -

1) How can I print these individually when they are not all on one sheet?

2) Alternatively, is there a way to print all the indiv. names on a clean card stock sheet & then cut the edges/shape myself?

I don't know about printing, but I do know that you can buy scissors that cut edges like scallops.

Try treating it as an envelope. what program are you using. try formatting it like an envelope and print on a full sheet first to see where it's printing, then move your text as needed to get it exactly where you want it. you may have to do each one seperate but it's quicker that trying to research how to do all at once. that's how i did my envelopes for the save the dates and it didn't really take that long.

Yes, what program are you using? you can change the print settings to print to a specific size paper and they should come out nicely. do a few practice pages first though before you print on the good stuff.

I see. Treat it as an individual envelope.

So 175 times thru the printer.

@ Ana T. - So I found die cut card stock on the net that can prefab the scallops - so my unique card edges issue are taken care of. Good info anyways Ana!

But these scalloped cards are small - 3"x2".

Will that cause jamming issues you think?

I would be using MS Word 2007.

    Thanks ladies.

Have you thought of clear labels? I'm doing leaves, and thinking of whats the easiest way of doing this. I'm either printing them on a whole page and cutting them or using clear labels. I don't know if this helps a little..

those are really cute btw, where did you get them?

I don't think there is a printer on earth that can print a card that small. The rollers can't feed less then 3.5 inches on anything. Can you find some punch out blanks? Try soho-papers.com They have some scalloped blanks I think.

@Mrs♥In♥September - I was thinking of clear labels also but we wanted a cleaner look & would fall back to those if we got frustrated in our print on trials.

Can't wait to see your leaves though!

I know it's so time consuming, but my MOH does calligraphy so I'm sweet talking her into doing mine.

Run a label printing program. Set the labes as if doing shipping labels (larger than regular envelope labels) Instead of printing on labels (such as Avery labels, etc), just use cardstock. Then you can cut the cardstock on a paper cutter that has a wavy blade (check Fiskars, etc) or use scissors to cut scallop edges.
