Printing Own Invitations

Jennifer, on September 22, 2021 at 12:33 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 3 11
For those that have designed their own wedding invitations or purchased one from Etsy, what did you find was the most cost effective print shop to print your design? How much did you pay per card? My printer at home sucks so I was looking at Staples, Vistaprint, Shutterfly, and other sites like that to print the design

I designed my own and printed them via vistaprint. I was very happy with how they turned out and I got a great sale on them…vistaprint has sales frequently, so keep an eye on them!

VistaPrint is great when you include their discounts. It depends on if your invites have pictures but Walgreens is very reasonable with promo codes. If you don’t have many invitations you can also use a cutting machine if you or a friend has one. For instance, use a calligraphy pen with cricut on cardstock.

Do you remember how much you paid with VistaPrint per card? Staples let’s you print on 110 lb cardstock for 75 cents a sheet, which is 2 invitations, 4 RSVP cards, or 4 Details card. I Printing samples this weekends to see if they look okay.

    Hi Georgia,

I had the same thought and dilemna. I actually made my invitation through zazzle (online store). I was unable to actually purchase the whole set of invitations, so I downloaded the invite and printed it at home on my printer. I used light cardstock on my printer, and would print two at a time. I used the cricut to write on the envelopes, like the person I was addressing it too. I saved so much money. I only printed 10 invites, since all others were sent digitally. Even though, everyone found it more convenient, they couldn't really read the invite through the phones. So, I was left having to type the information out or giving them a call.

    I hope this helps.

I used Cards and Pockets, for 74 invitations, RSVPs and envelopes I paid about $156. So about $2.10 for the invitation, RSVP card, and both envelopes. They were VERY reasonable and offer a bunch of different options for printing to your needs.

Thank you! I checked out their website and they have really good prices and selections on cardstocks that I’ve been looking for. You can’t believe how hard it is to find burgundy and gold cardstock that’s actually card weight… My files are set to save on paper (multiple cards per page, with bleed, and trim guides) and I’m not so sure if they’ll print that out. I sent them an email asking this question so hopefully they’ll come back with an answer.

I purchased an invitation suite (included invitation, RSVP card, and details card) from SimplyDIYPaperie on Etsy for $10. I tried to print them at home, but my printer could not handle the 110 pound cardstock I wanted to use, so I checked out at least a dozen printing services including Walmart, OfficeMax, Vistaprint, Shutterfly - pretty much every one you could think of! I ended up printing with an online company called Prints of Love and I'm so glad I choose them! Not only did my invitations and RSVP cards come out beautiful, but the image I had uploaded was (without my knowledge) a low-quality image and someone contacted me immediately and guided me to create a high-resolution image that would turn out better than the image I originally uploaded. I paid $118 for 60 invitations (5"x7") and 60 RSVP cards (3.5"x5"), both printed on the front and back, on a premium cardstock, and 60 white (5"x7") envelopes. I mounted my RSVP card on a sage green cardstock (purchased at Hobby Lobby for $6) and wrapped a gold belly band (purchased gold cardstock on Amazon for $14 and cut them into 1" strips) around the invitation and RSVP card. They turned out amazing and I only paid under $150 total, and that was with a TON of sage green cardstock and belly bands left over.
