Printing place cards?

Ostrichka, on January 20, 2016 at 12:17 PM Posted in Planning 2 13

Did anyone print your own place cards? Where did you get them, and how did the printing work out on the small card? I see that Minted does included printing of guest names, but their place cards are a bit pricey, even with the 20% coupon I can get from my planner. Wedding Paper Divas is a bit cheaper with their current sale, but then I can't get the names printed. Vistaprint looks like the best option, price-wise, but again I don't want to hand write them for 180 people! Any other places I should be looking?

Also, did you use flat or tented place cards? If you used flat, how did you display them?

I got blank Avery card tents and plan to do them myself. They have a website that you can download the templates and just enter the names. I gave it a test run and it was really easy. They were $13.

VistaPrint would probably be your best bet, especially with their sale going on this week. You could also just print them yourself if you wanted. Just buy a thicker paper and type them out

I just bought these yesterday. JoAnn's has 30% off and free shipping if you use the code SHIP23. I got two packages of 60 for $12! Much better than the nearly $200 I would have spent had I got them as a part of my invitation package.

We ordered printable gold foil ones from Paperdirect.com. The templates were a bit outdated and confusing, so it took a couple of test runs to get it working well. Also, I'd recommend printing them in a back feeder printer if you can. Some U- turn printers have issues getting the perforated part around that bend and jam. All said and done though, I thought they turned out really well! Pic attached (roses were added separately)

I bought gold tented cards from paper source and printed the names and table numbers on clear labels. The hardest part was making sure the labels were straight.

I printed ours. Bought them from Michaels when they were bogo and download the template. Figuring out which way to put the paper in the printer was the hardest part lol Make sure you have a few extra sheets and print a tester before going for the whole set.

^Just a note on @LCya's comment - Staples will not print on all paper types. It must be safe for laser printers. Ours supposedly was, but when we took it there they told us they could not run any foil through the laser printer.

I printed all the place cards on my home printer, found printpape.com and used one of the available templates.

Thank you for bringing up this topic about printing place cards, Ostrichka! I understand the challenge of finding an affordable option for 180 guests that doesn't require handwriting all the names.

I'd like to recommend a service that might be perfect for your needs: place card maker

This place card maker offers several advantages:

    1. Affordable pricing, especially for larger quantities
    2. Ability to print guest names directly on the cards
    3. Options for both flat and tented place cards
    4. Easy-to-use online design tool
    5. High-quality printing

You can easily upload your guest list and customize the design to match your wedding theme. They offer various paper types and finishes as well.

For displaying flat place cards, you could consider using small place card holders or creating a themed display that fits your wedding style.
