Printing save the dates and invites at home...

Nicole, on January 6, 2018 at 10:29 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 11
Is anyone printing their wedding documents, like save the dates and invited at home? We bought a template on Etsy, to try it out, and it was just ok. We are talking about backing the prints (printed in 110 weight card stock) with heavier paper. What are you all doing?

For my Save the Dates my friend design and print so I went with him. Thinking about letting him do wedding invites as well. I was going to do them on a website like minted or vistaprint but some reviews said they looked blurry but then I went to make them using a template at Walgreens but I came out cheaper using my friend. I didn’t get a deal from him either (wasn’t expecting one) just saying he was cheaper than printing at Walgreens. I just wanted them to look professional as possible

Invites were not high on our list of importance. We purchased a kit from JoAnn with a 50% off coupon and printed at home.

I got mine from Etsy and printed it at Walmart. I also printed the return labels and guest addresses on my own at home.

For stds, we went with vistaprint. For invites, we bought nice paper from paperandmore.com, designed our own template, and used a really nice printer. A lot of work. Not sure it saved a lot of money. Loved the way they turned out.

We purchased boxed invites from Hobby Lobby at 50% off. We will be printing from home. I didn't want to spend over $2 an invite so DIY it is.

I'm not 100% if I'll be printing the invite card at home, taking to a local print shop, or just ordering online yet. It'll be whichever is the best value with the look closest to what I want. But I will be customizing them no matter where they get printed.

I wanted something more than a plain flat card, so I'll be adding a gatefold to the outside, with any enclosure cards held together with a belly band & just placed inside.

In the pics the gatefold part is just a mock up with printer paper and the printed stationary is a sample set from Shine. My colors are red, black, & silver & all will be featured in my real invites.

I ordered my save the dates off shutterfly, with coupons they cost $0.89 each and I ordered 250, they came with envelops as well....for my invites I have found some on stay that I like and they are $0.95 each, have the invite, rsvp card and envelops for both, which I think is a great deal.... we have 2 kids and both work full time, he is in paramedic school as well, and I just did not want to add to the stress of trying to design and print good quality cards. I will leave it to someone who does it for a living and is experienced.

Thanks ladies!! I’ve been looking into it more, and you can customize save the dates at Walmart, printed on matte photo paper, glossy photo paper or card stock for like .28! This includes an envelope for each one! They have really cute designs and are easy to formate! I think this is the route we will go for the save the dates, and I’ll figure out the invites later. The labels and other things like that I’ll do at home. Thank you all again!!

Check Groupon as well. They had a deal for Zazzle a few days back for a certain number of 5x7 announcement cards at a fairly low cost. There was an option to upload your own design, too, so you could still use the Etsy template you have and just use Zazzle for the printing services.

Custom designs that I'm going to have Vistaprint print. I just spent way too much money and headache printing address labels for Christmas cards.
