Private Dining or Large Group Reservation

Halie, on July 13, 2020 at 10:31 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 16
Hey all! Which do you prefer for a courthouse wedding, a private dining reception or a large group reservation at a restaurant?

Have any of you been to a courthouse wedding or simple ceremony and then gone to a restaurant afterwards to celebrate?

I've only ever gone to BBQs afterwards, but if you're looking for something a little more formal, I would definitely do a private dining reception!

We would love to do a BBQ, but we don’t have the space to properly host. We are perfectly fine with making it a casual event. I simply want everyone to be comfortable and eat great food. That’s why I asked which. I don’t see anything wrong with a large group reservation at our favorite restaurant, but you all might have a different view/suggestion.

I think you'll be safe doing either option. Honestly, don't worry too much about it. I mean my last marriage was a courthouse with a few family members and one of my best friends. We went to Dave & Buster's afterwards lol

I would do the private dining ! My rehearsal dinner was in a private patio room and it was so nice having a space all to ourselves

Have you looked into a rec center or a banquet hall. I think a private even where people can dance (even if a speaker is hooked up to a spotify play list) and maybe some party trays and games to play?

Not sure your area but right now nobody will accommodate a large group due to COVID. Your best bet might be private dining at a more open venue that you rent out.

That sounds super fun! It will only be immediate family and close friends! It will be a large group (about 40) but that’s only because I have a large family.

We wouldn’t be getting married until next year. The few places I have called/emailed are giving me pricing options based on COVID restrictions being lifted. However, my guy and I said regardless if it is 10 people in attendance or 40, we will be getting married on our date.

So far every restaurant we have been interested in has either a private dining room or accepts large group reservations. (Assuming they COVID restrictions are lifted.)

That’s a great idea, but not the right vibe for my crowd. My immediate family aren’t big into games or dancing so that’s why we came up with lunch or dinner at a restaurant. We do plan on going out with our wedding party later that night to celebrate, but that’s optional and not included in the actual wedding events.

Hmmm...I almost wonder if private dining would be better because you could plan for the guest count according to occupancy limitations and you could plan on how to space your guests, whereas in the restaurant with open seating, you would have be concerned about spacing from other patrons.

Same! And yea, it was fun. Well, if it's gonn be about 40 guests, I would look into catering. Maybe a rec center, reception hall or a park.

I'd prefer something private. I have only been to 1 court house wedding. They actually went back to the brides parents house and had a celebration there.
