Problems with the wedding venue!

Soon to be Mrs. S, on September 23, 2014 at 7:05 PM Posted in Married Life 0 7

We had some major planning issues with the wedding venue. The day of schedule was not followed at all. Venue had on the contract that linens would be on at 8:30am- I did all my own set up and this part was super important for the day to flow smoothly- didn't happen. The PA system that we paid for cut in and out through out the whole ceremony. Overlays for tables were missing- my cake table actually has the plastic skirting and nothing over it. And the skirting went only half way. No cake box was provided for the top cake - so they wrapped it up with aluminum foil. (Destroying it) so many other things- but I'll spare you. We spoke with venue Owner and he will only partially refund amount for linen and 1/2 of PA charge. Do we legally have a leg to stand on?

Are you looking for a full refund for the day? Someone here might be more knowledgable about this, but I work in a different event industry and, in my experience, it's not gonna happen. You still used their services and had your wedding there, so it would cost them money to give you a full refund. That's pretty rare. I would also check the clauses in your contract to see what it says in terms of refunds.

I'm not really sure what it is you're looking for so it's hard to give advice.

I'm definitely not looking for a full refund. But I believe that a refund of the PA system, linens, and hour of photography time would be appropriate. There is nothing listed as far as the clauses on the contract. Those items are listed as services that we paid for. I was looking to see if anyone else had issues with their venue and how they were resolved

I would say then that you need to ask for what you want, but be prepared they will probably counter with a lower offer or potentially say, "our offer still stands. Take it or leave it."

You didn't mention any photography issues so i dont think you (from whats here) deserve a refund on that. read thru your contract, it will tell you if you have any legal grounds and what is the minimum service required by the contract.

It was a domino effect.. Them not having the linens on in time / or at all - put my decorating behind in the morning. Setting my schedule back 2 hours. Because of that, I was not able to arrive early enough back at the venue (hour and half priori to the ceremony) for first look. My photographer showed up at the venue on our scheduled time to take first look- while I was still getting my hair done at the hotel.. So he sat for an hour-

And there is nothing in the contract about them refunding anything for any services not agreed or paid for. It's just when we have to pay our amounts due
