Processional and Recessional??

Private User, on February 24, 2014 at 1:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

I originally wanted to do the classic Canon in D for my processional and the Here Comes the Bride for my walk down the aisle, and then the Wedding March for my recessional. But now I'm thinking maybe change it up a bit and do different songs to walk up and down the aisle to. We're going to have some upbeat r&b, pop, country, and rock love songs playing as guests are coming in to be seated.. so i think it would be kinda awkward going from that to classical music. My FH and I listen to almost any kind of music, so suggestions please!!!! Smiley smile

I don't think that the ambiance music really needs to match with the ceremony music. I don't see a problem with going from upbeat to classical. It makes people know that the ceremony is starting.

I'm still in planning stages of this but so far I'm thinking...bridesmaids walk down to Vitamin String Quartet's cover of Bruno Mars "Just The Way You Are"...me walking down to DJ Sammy's "Heaven" (Candlelight Remix not the fast techno version)...recessional Colbie Caillat "I Do"

Our processional is "Marry Me" by Train and I'm walking down to The Piano Guys' version of Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are." Our recessional is "Never Knew I Needed" by NeYo

I've struggled with music too. I think I want classical for the processional and bridal entrance only because I've dreamed about it for years Smiley smile

After a HUGE wedding-stress-induced-fight we has "The Imperial March" from "The Empire Strikes Back" for our processional-- it got everyone smiling to have such ominious music for all our attendants! I had Hayden for my processional and the we had the theme from 'Superman' for the recessional. My brother, who got married a few years later, had the theme from "The Raiders of the Lost Ark" for his recessional.

We have a friend that is a classically trained violinist and she's also in an amazing Celtic band. She is going to play while I walk down the aisle.

My processional is going to be Canon in D. I am going to walk down to my brother playing "Marry Me" by Train on the guitar. Muy recreational is going to either be The Wedding March or Marry You by Bruno Mars. I haven't decided yet.

    Professional: Largo By Handel

    Bride's Entrance: Canon in D

    Recessional: Trumpet Voluntary

We are using A Thousand Years for our unity portion of the ceremony. Our String Duo will also play a mix of pop songs while guests are being seated.

    Processional: Trumpet Voluntary

    Brides Entrance: Bridal Chorus

Recessional: The heavens declare the Glory of God

Our organist suggested them because they are traditional.. we had no idea what to choose, so we're going with his expertise

Tentatively, our processional will be "Canon in D" by Brian Crane... My entrance will be "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri or The Piano Guys... and I believe our recessional will be "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors.
