Processional order and songs?

Nisa, on December 21, 2018 at 12:02 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 13

Hi all! I've asked about this before, but I'm really looking to just survey how people do their processionals because I can't decide. Can you tell me:

1. What is the order of your processional?

2. What songs are you using for the processional and recessional, if any?

I've decided that I'll be walking down the aisle to "River Flows in You" by Yiruma, played by my FH's fraternity brother on violin. I have no clue what to do for the rest of the wedding party. Should they also walk down to an instrumental, because mine is?

Overall, just looking for ideas and feedback that I can incorporate into my own wedding. Thank you!

    1. Still haven’t decided how I’m going to order my bridesmaids lol, of course will have MOH next to me but I’m thinking of maybe arranging the other girls by how long I’ve known them. Haven’t decided yet for sure, but that’s a good way to not offend anyone.
    2. My family friend who I’ve known since birth is playing the flute for our procession! It’s so nice and meaningful to have the musician be someone you know! Our wedding party is walking down the aisle to this: https://youtu.be/NgsUsNbdB_U and I’ll be walking down to Pachelbel Canon in D (cliche, I know).

As far as order, we’re doing FH and FILs closely followed by groomsmen (order TBD). Then bridesmaids (order also TBD, my girls are in mismatched dresses - 3 dresses, 2 girls in each - so I just need to figure out what would look best), then flower girl. Then me, escorted by both of my parents!

We’re having an acoustic guitarist play for our ceremony, which I’m so excited about Smiley love FH is going to choose for him/groomsmen (1 song, it’s going to be something which flows with the pre-ceremony music... maybe Follow You Into The Dark). Right now I’m thinking Hallelujah for my BMs and flower girl. And then I’m already decided on Pachelbel’s Canon in D for my big walk down the aisle!

I've barely even though about it so this was good for me.Smiley smile

All I have is that I am also walking down the aisle to "River flows in you"! But I've decided to keep that a secret from my FH.
As for the order of people walking down the aisle, I just figured the bridesmaids and the groomsmen would walk together two and two. To what song I have no clue haha.
And I am yet to decide on wether Ill walk down the aisle alone or be escorted by both my parents. Also dont know if FH want to be escorted by his parents or not...

The only people walking will be my 3 bridesmaids and then myself with my grandfather. Groom and groomsmen will be at the altar already, everyone else will be seated already. Me and the girls will walk out to Home at Last by Trevor Jones from the Labyrinth soundtrack. I haven't really thought about recessional music, though. 😯

I’m still working out my order, but overall it’s grandmothers, mothers, groom, groomsmen, bridesman, bridesmaids, moh, me and my dad. For everyone except me, we’re having Bless the Broken Road on violin and guitar. Then for me make you feel my love. I am a violinist and river flows in you is so pretty. If you like that you might also like Song for Sienna.

Here was our basic order. My DH's oldest daughter began the ceremony by lighting the unity candles. Then his parents walked down the aisle and were seated followed by the pastor, groom and groomsman from the side. A violinist performed Silent Night during all this. Then my BMs, 3 flower girls and a ring bearer walked down the aisle followed by me. The violinist, cellist, and pianist performed the Piano Guys version to A Thousand Years for all of us. At the end the recessional Ode to Joy was performed by the violinist, cellist, and pianist. My DH and I walked back down the aisle followed by the little ones and then the wedding party in pairs.

For our wedding, all sets of grandparents have passed so this is what we did:

    processional:

    officiant
    groom with his parents
    my brother with my mother
    best man
    groomsmen
    groomsmen
    groomsmen
    junior bridesmaid
    bridesmaid
bridesmaid and flower girl (my sister in law and niece; my niece wouldn’t walk down without her and that was fine by me)
    moh
    my father and i

    recessional:
    my hubby and i
    moh and best man
    bridesmaid/groomsmen/niece
    bridesmaid/groomsmen
    junior bridesmaid/groomsmen
    his parents
    my parents
    Officiant
    guests

I walked down the aisle to our first dance song, but done with a string trio (Bon Jovi: “Thank You for Loving Me”) and we left with an upbeat, recessional song (quite honestly at that point, I didn’t care...I was married to the love of my life!!!)
