Programs?

Sadie, on March 20, 2022 at 3:04 PM Posted in Planning 16 12
We are planning a brunch wedding and I thought it would be cute to do newspaper-style program! I would also like to include a word search and crossword on the back to entertain guests while we are getting pictures. Would it be okay then to have the programs placed at each person's reception seat (ceremony & reception are same location)? I know anytime I go to a wedding I've destroyed the program by the end of the ceremony so I thought this would be better! I just didn't know if people would think it was weird that the ceremony and wedding party lists were given after the ceremony. Thanks for your input!

Hey Sadie! Newspaper programs sound so fun. To have the same ones at the ceremony and reception might be a little redundant. Maybe at the reception have menus/placecards/program hybrids! So the reception ones can just have the key points from the ceremony ones + whatever you want to add to make them a little different. Hope this helps!

Hi Ayanna! Sorry I may not have portrayed my idea completely. My thoughts are to not have a ceremony program, and then at the reception tables have the ceremony details like songs and wedding party on the newspaper program. That's why I wasn't sure about it cause I thought people might think it misplaced.

Ohhhhh, then yes it probably would seem a little odd to not have at the ceremony. Especially since programs usually have the schedule, wedding party, etc on them. (Basically all the stuff you'd want to know at the beginning)

That's what I was afraid of! But I don't that guests will take their program with them to the reception to do the puzzles?

Anyone who love puzzles will! Everyone else will probably take as good of care as anyone does to a program.

My daughter did this for her brunch wedding. Guests who took the programs did the puzzles while waiting for ceremony to start.

I'm doing something similar, but I'm only making them for our hotel welcome bags.

Did she print them on regular copy paper or cardstock?

It was a very light gray almost construction paper consistency.

I love this idea, Sadie. I’m also having a brunch wedding and I’m thinking of doing something similar. Can I ask how you’re designing yours? Did you purchase a template somewhere? If I do newspapers, I think I might have a stack of them sitting at the coffee bar that will be set up for guests to grab coffee before the ceremony (since ours is pretty early). That way guests can take them or leave them, or come back and grab one after the ceremony if they choose.

To get straight to your concern, if I were a guest at your wedding, I would be thinking about how cute your crossword is and I would not find it weird that the bridal party is listed after the ceremony. Go with your gut and place them where you think your guests will enjoy them most!

There are templates on Etsy but I just made mine on Microsoft word! That is a good idea to put them with some beverages! I really appreciate your feedback
