Promise ring during ceremony..

Allie Marie, on March 24, 2017 at 9:36 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 24

Here's a thought I had recently that I don't believe has been discussed.. FH gave me a promise ring years ago, when we were much younger. Anyway, I don't know what I will do with it during the ceremony ? Currently I wear it on my right hand but I'll need to put my engagement ring over there during the ceremony and the bands won't sit well together.. obviously this ring means a lot to me and I'd like to have it on the entire time but I'm just not sure what to do with it ?!

Anyone else have a promise ring ? Suggestions ? "Too soon" comments ?! Lol

Wait is it a thing to put your engagement ring on your right hand for the ceremony?

@ShakespeareBride Assuming the wedding band and engagement ring are separate rings

Oh didn't know that I thought you just wore your engagement ring like normal and added the wedding band during the ceremony.

I plan on wearing mine on my right hand as I do now. I've never taken it off in 3 years. Had it resized when we got engaged. It's so special to me

I'm planning on wearing my engagement ring on my right hand for the ceremony. Traditionally, the wedding band is the "inside" ring, with the engagement ring on the outside, hence why you take the engagement ring off/switch it to the other side for the ceremony. However, some brides do it the other way, or you could just swap them later. Or, perhaps you could attach your promise ring to your bouquet or something like that for the wedding.

Just a thought...can your FH place both rings on your left hand at the same time...together (wedding ring & ering)? This way the wedding ring will be 'put on first'?

ETA - my rings will be soldered together before the wedding...so I'm thinking it would be similar to that when placed on your finger.

@planningpartyof1 I thought traditionally, the engagement ring went on the right hand for the ceremony..

I guess he could put ering and wedding band on at same time !

Is your ring and middle finger the same size? Try it out that way you can wear e-ring and promise ring on your right hand.

I'm going to be wearing my e-ring on my left hand and my FH is putting the wedding band on the same finger. I'm going to switch it around after the ceremony.

I was at a wedding where the officiant made a promise ring speech and gave it to the Groom, saying how the bride had saved herself for him. However, the bride's father was the one who gave the promise ring to her.

I would just keep the promise ring on your right hand, keep your e-ring on the left and just have him put the wedding band on the outside of the e-ring. No one will see it, and you can just switch them after the cerrmony. I totally forgot to move my e-ring to my right hand before and like really obviously scrambled to move it when he was about to put my band on my finger during the ceremony lol. Just leave it. Don't be like me.

@misstomrs, your thinking of a purity ring. Which is creepy as fuck. Basically a girl's father gives it to her as a promise to remain "pure" for her future husband. Then whenever she gets married the officiant gives the ring to her husband as a symbol of giving him her virginity. Excuse me while I vomit.
