Proof of Funds for Jamaica??

Mika, on November 3, 2013 at 7:20 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 10

So just doing one last final honeymoon check, and I've seen several places that to get into Jamaica we need passports (got 'em), we need return tickets to the US (got 'em), and we need proof of sufficient funds to cover the visit. Now we've booked an all inclusive, and we've already paid for EVERYTHING. We'll have a little cash on us for some extra sun screen and a couple of souvenirs, but we're certainly not carrying enough to pay for the whole trip. We'll also be bringing a credit card that we don't plan to use, but just want to have on hand for emergency. Will a credit card and some petty cash be enough to constitute proof of funds?

THANKS ALL!!!

Maybe you could also bring a print out of your resort reservation? I think that should be sufficient.

We'll definitely have a print out of the resort reservations and the itinerary.

Can you call the resort to see if they know what will cover the need of proof?

Who is asking for proof of funds? I just went there in April and didn't hear of this. Just wondering.

I found it all on several different websites that indicated the things that we would need, one of the is the one where you can apply online to renew your passport.

I've been to Jamaica quite a few times and stayed at different resorts. I was never asked for proof of funds. As a matter of fact, at one all inclusive I never left the resort and i don't think I spent 20.00 the whole time I was there!

I was in Jamaica at an all-inclusive this past July. They do question this more when you are staying in a regular hotel or other type of accommodations. You will have no problem. I think we took $300 and were totally fine. I only used my credit card for excursions and money for tips and souveneers.

I think proof of funds is generally only needed if you have to have a visa and are going for a longer period of time. other countries use it to make sure you're not going to wind up on their welfare system or homeless in the street.

I've been to Jamaica several times and they never asked for "proof of funds". Last time I went there was for our honeymoon in 2004, so maybe things have changed. I agree that you should contact the resort or your travel agent and get their thoughts on this.

Never heard this. I'll wing it in a couple of weeks and let you know how things go.
