I'm not familiar with the Stag & Doe tradition so I won't comment on it.

I'm having a destination wedding and it's absolutely fine to have a registry whether or not you're having a shower. I'm assuming not everyone is invited or will attend the shower, so the registry provides a wish list for your broader guest list. The registry reduces the chance that you will get random gifts that you may not want, but it also gives your guests your sense of style if they do decide to stray from the registry. Good luck!

Yes, to both. I had a destination wedding and people didn't treat it any differently than a traditional wedding. I had three showers, we have a bach/ette party both at home and at the destination, and we registered. Not many things were bought off the registry, but a handful of things were. And then we were given things we needed rather then things we already had/didn't want. Just because you choose to have your wedding in a different location then where you live doesn't mean you should miss out on wedding traditions. If someone wants to host a doe party for you, let them! If someone wants to buy you a gift, let them know it's not necessary, but if they do, accept it.

My sister had a destination wedding and had a registry at 2 different places, not to mention a destination bridal shower and then her wedding. She did receive a lot of items off her Crate and Barrel Registry, and gifts from the gals at her Bachelorette Party too. I didn't register for wedding gifts when my hubby and I got married b/c we got married by a JOP in our home town (my grandma wished we waited so she could have thrown me a Bridal Shower too). We instead registered for things we needed for a baby since our son was on the way a month later. We weren't expecting anything from anyone. My mom's gift to us was us not having to pay back my debt to her. My dad wound up paying the rest of our rent for our old apartment. Some family sent money to us, which we used toward the baby. I told my mom if any of her family asked to please let them know where we registered for the baby and anything off of those registries would be the best and most appreciated gifts.

We're doing a Destination Vow Renewal for hopefully our 6 year anniversary and instead of receiving gifts if anyone wishes to give one, I'm asking they make a chariatable donation instead of a tangible gift. This way they can feel good about their gift, we'll feel they made an important donation, and nothing we don't already have and or don't need. If you're going destination wedding, you can still register and have showers and enjoy the traditions of Bridal Showers and Register for things you want and need.

Your Destination Wedding is still a wedding. Even if you don't invite everyone, you could send out an announcement and list your registry on the announcement. If you don't need the traditional wedding gifts, you could setup a honeymoon registry. Have your family and friends contribute to your destination wedding and honeymoon. For help with a destination wedding email me at *******@******************.*** Or to sign up for our honeymoon registry go to www.eileenc.allabouthoneymoons.com. Email me if you have any questions. I agree with RomanceTravel. You should still invite people to your destination and give them the opportunity to decline the invite. Have you considered broadcasting your wedding live on the internet? We offer a secure way for you to do that at a very affordable price. We've done hundreds of live wedding broadcasts and can help you set this up provided there's internet access at your destination resort.
