Modern! We were sipping coffee at a cheap dinner early in the morning after he woke me up at dawn to see the U.S. Supreme Court building before the other tourists got there (I'm a lawyer, so I was excited by the surprise destination). Smiley smile

Modern: FH got home from work and ran right to play with our (then) 7 month old son. I got up to cook dinner. He comes to the kitchen, hands me the baby monitor and said the baby was asleep and he was going to shower before dinner. After a bit I see and hear FH on the monitor talking to the baby and asking him if he wants daddy to marry mommy. Then he tells him that he loves his mommy and he has to be a big boy and wear a suit and stand up with him when he gets married to mommy. So here I am with cooking utensils in hand running to the bedroom and he looks up at me with a smile and says “Do you like rings?”

Definitely traditional. We were at Disneyland getting our caricature drawn. Little did I know, he had set an appointment with them, and they drew him on his knee holding out a churro (our favorite Disneyland treat!) to me. When I got up to take a look at the drawing, I laughed wondering how the artist knew we loved churros, and when I turned to see his reaction to the drawing, there he was on his knee with my ring. Smiley smile

He was traditional in that he got down on one knee. It was modern in that he put it on FB live (we were in Spain)

So mine is modern and traditional.... He proposed to me without getting down on one knee, and the ring he got me was not my engagement ring. But he knew he wanted to get married this summer so he wanted me to get started planning and he wants to surprise me somewhere along this line of the perfect proposal.... So let me tell you everyday I am like is this the day. I know that he got the ring, but I know that he is trying to catch me off guard and even worst my bridesmaid (cousin, sister) is in the loop and no one will tell me anything... sucks they are suppose to be making me happy and they all think this is a big game. WW fam plz save me from these crazy people...

This was one of the few things he was traditional with. He got down on one knee and pooped the question. It was a nice gesture and I think that it is still romantic.

Modern as modern can get… lol, we were sitting next to each other at a bar when he popped the big question and pulled the ring out of his pocket.

It was pretty traditional. He got down on one knee in our living room after making me close my eyes. It was a big deal for him to do that, because he has a bad knee from a gunshot back in the 80's. He said he wanted to do it right, and the fact that he would knowingly and willingly do that even though it wasn't comfortable for him was meaningful to me

Traditional. He took our boys to work with him that day and asked them at lunch if they would be okay with him proposing that night. He also went to my dads office weeks prior and told him he wanted to take him to dinner so they could talk. My dad and I are so much alike and hate to wait. He told him he didn’t want to go to dinner and he had better just have that talk right there and now (he thought it was bad news). Lol! They both cried. He waited until my brother flew in and proposed at the dinner table with my family all there. He cried and got down on one knee. After he proposed he was still crying some and I asked if dad knew in between some tears and sniffles he said, “yeah, I asked him to go to dinner with me but he said he didn’t want to go eat with me so I had to just ask him there without getting him the steak dinner I had planned.” I laughed so hard because he sounded like a toddler who had been scolded between the way he worded it and the tears.
