It was a total surprise. We got engaged at a national park that is really important to my husband. His mom worked as a park ranger there for 19 years, he did Eagle scout projects at the park, and his mom planted a tree in honor of her dad there. He took me to the park for a picnic or so I thought. We had been there multiple times for a picnic before. We got there and I sat on a bench while he ran to the bathroom at least that's what he told me. He actually ran to the truck to get the ring. Once he got back to where I was, he asked me to stand up then turned me around. On the bridge behind me was my parents, my grandparents, my siblings, his mom, his brother and his brother's wife, and his cousin and the cousin's then girlfriend. I was so shocked to see them that I turned around to ask what they were doing there and he was done on onr knee. After saying yes, we had a picnic with our families.

It was a total surprise this was in December 25th 2018 and I was 7 1/2 months pregnant with our daughter and my 5 year old was opening gifts and I was fixing the tv and as soon as I turned around he was on one knee ❤️ Romantic and surprising ..I was looking a hot mess because we woke up together and so I was t expecting it but never the less it was amazing 🎉🎊🎉🎊

My man plan planned a romantic surprise. He put together a little pre valentines day weekend getaway for us at our favorite spot about an hour from our home. we have 2 kids and a busy life so i was just excited to spend some quality us time together. we did all of our favorite things there, walked the boardwalk and went to lunch. after lunch we went to a sculpture garden nearby for the first time and walk around exploring and laughing as we usually do. we got to a spot in the gardens where a tiny house overlooks a beautiful creek and we decide to go up to the top floor and take some pictures. while we are posing and cheesing he drops down on one knee and says a bunch of romantic things and asks me to marry him. I was so caught off guard despite us being together for 14 years. and of course i said "hell yes! finally!" it was a beautiful surprise. when we got back to our room he had decorated it with rose petals, valentines day cards, candy, stuffed swans and flowers. then he took us out for dinner at the fanciest restaurant on the island. it was perfectly us.

We drove up to Lake Ontario to stay in a house on the lake that we rented for his birthday week. When we arrived we put all our stuff down and then we went to check out the back of the house. There were rose petals that led to the most beautiful view of Lake Ontario and their gorgeous backyard with a beautiful patio area and a bottle of champagne with 2 glasses. (shout out to the home owners for setting it up for him before we arrived.) He then took my hands and looked at me and that’s when I knew I’m like omg here it comes. So he tells me about we’ve been together for a long time and blah blah blah and then he pulls out the ring and I was just like you had that in your pocket the whole drive here?!?!(which was like 7 hours lol) I just couldn’t get over that part I don’t know why. So anyways he got on one knee and I without hesitation said Yes Yes Yes in the most highest pitch excited tone you could ever imagine. It was the best day ever. When we looked in the fridge they had chocolate covered strawberries in there that said congratulations. Big shout out to the home owners as well. Needless to say I gave them a 5* review lol.

I didn’t know that my FH had spoken with my parents a few weeks prior. I later found out that he told them his plans of proposing on the beach during our trip to Hawaii. Well, it didn’t happen that way and I’m glad it didn’t.

Instead, FH and I were taking a break in the hotel room and eating Subway (yep, Subway🤦🏽‍♀️). He took the ice bucket and went down the hall to fill it up. When FH came back into the room, he put the ice bucket on the dresser, walked over to my side of the bed, got on his knee and began expressing how he loved me etc. etc. and asked me to marry him (as I was eating my sandwich). Then he said “Oh, let me get the ring” because it was in his backpack. 😂 FH and I hadn’t even gone ring shopping. So I was completely taken off guard and thought he was kidding. I kept saying, “Are you for real? Are you FOR REAL?” It was so unexpected and done at the most random time of our Hawaii trip. But OMG... I was extremely happy and excited. To some people it may seem “unromantic”, especially for being in Hawaii. But for me it was perfect and so “Us”!!! I jokingly say that FH went to get some ice for our drinks and he came back with the real ice. 💍 LOL!!!! That was on 1/11/19, our second day in Hawaii. Needless to say, the rest of the trip was AMAZING!!!

I was totally surprised. He proposed to me on my birthday, and my birthday is also our anniversary day. We had been together for 2 years and he wanted to make me steak and lobster for dinner for our anniversary/my birthday. I told my mom about it and she asked me since he is such a good cook they wanted to come over for my birthday and see how his cooking was. I told my mom she'd have to talk to him about it since he was buying all the stuff and making it. My mom didn't ask because she was invited over along with his parents all along. She just made it seem like to me that she invited herself over so I wouldn't be so suspicious. So the day comes and he gave me flowers, my favorite candy and a purse for my birthday gifts which really made the purposal a surprise because I figured if he gave me these gifts I'd definitely not be getting engaged, I figured the ring would have been the only gift I would have gotten. We finished eating dinner and my fiancé leaves the room and comes back and immediately gets down on one knee and asked for my hand in marriage. I was so shocked I didn't know what to say except is this for real or are you joking. I looked around the room at our parents smiling and seeing my dad tear up and I knew it was real. It was the happiest day of my life.

View Quoted Comment That so awesome. Honestly I think the best purposals are the ones that aren't really considered by others romantic. Because as women we expect it to be this big romantic thing with roses and candle light. But when you are just chilling at home or in a hotel room and they get down on one knee its such a shock. And I think it's just so beautiful. Congrats.

We went on a backpacking trip and stopped for the night by a lake. We had set up our camp and were trying to take a picture because the sunset was GORGEOUS. Our dog kept walking in front of the camera though, so he got up to reposition the camera and then back to our tent to get our dog’s leash (or so I thought, but really he was grabbing the ring). He came back and got on one knee and asked me to marry him. He had put the camera on video when he repositioned it, and got the whole thing on video. It was perfect, even though our dog walks through the video several times, because he didn’t grab the leash lol

View Quoted Comment Thank you. I love the story and agree that there’s the idea that a proposal needs to be a big song and dance. But FH is more of a low-key romantic than the showy type anyway. He does little random sweet things and this was no different. 😊

So we have been together for 8 years and had already talked about being married and gone ring shopping to see what style I liked so it wasn’t a huge surprise. We were at my house and having a bon Fire our back which we do almost every weekend night in summer. We were stargazing and just having a good time, he got up to get more wood and asked me to help I got up turned around and he was on one knee. I was crying so much I hardly caught a word he has said. We then had s’mores and champagne it was so perfect. The next morning he surprised me by taking off work, called my boss and got the day off for me already and took me to the beach and the aquarium and we had a reservation at the nicest restaurant with a view at sunset. He changed his whole plans because he knew I would be suspicious going to the beach and he wanted to surprise me so he did it at the bonfire last minute! It’s not the super romantic over the top proposal. But it was still perfect to me.

I had a feeling my husband was gonna propose but didn’t know when exactly - til he said he randomly got us some tickets to a garden on Sunday. That felt like a stereotypical place to propose right? So it’s Friday night of that weekend and we are just in. I go take a shower and he says “take your time in the shower” I didn’t think much of it. So I come back in the room and start painting my nails and he’s telling me to come look out the window. I say eh later or in a minute, I’m busy painting nails. And he keeps pushing me like no no cmon will you just come look omg. Finally I come look and in candles and rose petals in the back yard he has spelled “I love you, marry me?” And he’s down on his knee proposing and I say “yes but I wish you would have waited til I had pants on” — I didn’t have any pants on. We laughed and he handed me a pair of pants aha .

We got engaged on New Year’s Eve, and I was completely surprised! My now-fiancé wanted to host a NYE party at our house, and I agreed that was fine. In the mean time, my best friend and her husband invited us to go to Phipp’s Conservatory in Pittsburgh that evening, and I was really hoping to go there instead. He kept insisting we could do both if we timed it just right. Long story short, he wanted to propose at Phipp’s but knew I’d be suspicious if he suggested we go there, so he had my best friend h

Oops! He had my best friend help plan it all so i wouldn’t become suspicious! They had even gone there a few days prior to scope out possible proposal spots and had a “code phrase” he’d say when he was ready. She hired a photographer to capture it all! Afterwards, we all went to our house for what was a New Year’s Eve Engagement Party with all of our friends and family! It was absolutely perfect!!!

These are great. My fiancé and I actually went back to our proposal spot yesterday. July 28th makes a year.


I helped him pick out the ring, but the actual proposal was still a surprise. We both like art so he told me he wanted to go to an art museum to see their newest exhibit. When we got to the museum, he grabbed my hand, and asked “can we walk around the gardens first?” At that moment I knew that was the day. We live in the South. It was like 95 degrees and humid. No one was walking in the gardens. Anyways, we walked around and he explained each art sculpture to me. In my head I was wondering if each stop was going to be the spot. We finally got to a secluded area in the back and turned me around. There was a sign that said “Will you marry me, Reena” and tons of pictures of us on sticks. After I said yes, I turned around and saw a guy in the bushes with a camera. My excitement then turned to being creeped out. He had his friend set everything up and take pictures. 😂 He was very thoughtful and I couldn’t ask for a better proposal.
